Fredies Fantastic Fishhouse

3.8 really. After the shock of hearing of the closing of the Shillelagh House in Truro, ( my fav fish and chips spot ), I was happy to find this spot. It was lunch time on a Friday so predictably it was very busy. We found a table outside and a staff member was helpful in providing me with chairs. The orders we placed and we received our food quite quickly, my wife's fish was excellent as were my clams, very large, tender golden clams! We had the newfie fries which neither of use liked, I had pictured a soft bread stuffing, but it was a dry stuffing mix which didn't really work with the gravy for me. This is an awesome place to get fresh yummy fish and chips in Halifax. The staff is always friendly, and helpful. The Bayers Lake location is not huge, but alot of people just do take out. It's reasonably priced, but the fish is greasy, batter not to thick, and fries are great as well. Give this place a try.

I got a lobster roll which was delicious but what made the visit so great was the service. Everyone was so friendly and was very helpful in helping me make a decision in what to order. The food was also made fast, would be great for take out or eat in.

Came in for a quick lunch and had the lobster roll. it was loaded with lobster and was very good. Everything is made to order and the service is very attentive.

The chowder is to die for nice chunks of lobster and a fresh roll. The fish has a beautiful batter not too thick but the comb you are in heaven
