we came there at 10:30 on a Saturday morning, and almost all bagels were already out, so our options were limited. there were two tofu spreads - a zimt walnut and spinat artichoke (or something.) I tried the Spinat artichoke (because there were no more bagels that went with zimtwalnuss), and it was really good, though super garlicky. I tasted after hours of garlic. we also ordered coffees, which can be made with non-dairish milk for a price. the place was quite busy, but also with many employees it was slow. we finished bagels before we even got our coffee.
I was so excited when the tofu-based spreads were available. I visited madison, wi recently and they had a NY style bagel space with a tofu-based cream cheese that was delicious. I asked for 5 borough bagels that they try something similar, and within a few weeks they did it! I don't say it was all my ding, but in any case I'm happy. both flavors are super tasty, and while I would love that you are all bagel vegan (all sown bagels have an egg wash), the vegan bagels they have been well made and delicious. extremely friendly staff and nice mood.
this place is pretty cool! I took a bagel sandwich. the shop itself it is quite cute, colorful and easy with beautiful decorations. I love all the seats they offer. When I came into the load, they see the cream cheese displayed as ice is in an ice-laden and I love it made that product before and along. the menus are large and very easy to read. they have three vegan options for spreading for their bagel or bagel sandwich, hummus, spinat artichoke tofu cream cheese and a cinnamon walnut tofu cream cheese option as well.
I ordered takeout for lunch and everything was fantastic, as was the service. When I went to pick up my order, the cashier recognized me without even asking my name. She mentioned that they were almost finished preparing my order and it would just be a couple more minutes. I got my order, left, and everyone loved their lunch! 5 Borough is incredible and has the best bagels in DSM. I am more than willing to wait for their high quality food and service. I love a good bagel. At this place one has a lot of options to load their bagel with goodies—ranging from $7- 9 dollars depending on your palate of the day. I chose the Manhattan on a Cheddar Bagel. The selection was fantastically delicious. The place is small and parking is terrible, but the wait and the price is forgivable because the bagel is just that good. Go give them a try!Today I Stopped in for a quick breakfast wrap full of yummy goodness!
I absolutely adore this restaurant! Although my daughter and I don't have the opportunity to come here often due to living in Ankeny, we make sure to visit every 6 weeks after our appointments. The staff always greets us as soon as we walk in and remembers our usual order. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious. Highly recommended!
I was super impressed! Growing up not far from NYC, I was skeptical of the claim of real NY style bagels in the Midwest. They did not disappoint At all! The staff was so friendly and even when they were packed, they worked really fast. I loved how much cream cheese they added to the bagels. They have a great selection as well. 10/10
