We hadn't booked and just decided to take a chance based on reviews. We found this and locals directed us to it. It was busy and we got there just after evening opening around 7.15pm. They had one last tableOf two for us which we gladly accepted as the decor inside is stunning and rustic. The welcome was also great. There are two set menus to choose from or a la carte. We chose al a carte and the veal and cote de boeuf. A fish aperitif was provided which I am told was very tasty (I don't eat fish). Thought we would try somewhere different, away from the harbour. Has read decent reviews so went on a Friday evening. Disappointing.Service was initially slow and then we realised that they were waiting for an English speaking member of staff to come on duty. We weren't asked if we were happy to order in French, which would have been fine as we have enough between us to get food and drink.Starters were ok but main courses not up to scratch for the price. This restaurant is not to be missed. The food is of the best quality and sea fresh. We were so impressed with our turbot and french apple desserts we returned the next day for lunch too. In the large choice of menus starting at 21 €, We chose the one called la marmite dieppoise! 38 €. This meal is the speciality of the place ! Stewed fish ( 5 different) with normandy cream with delicious spices. Superb! Fantastic cheeses and for the dessert an apple pie with an amazing green apple sorbet!Waiters are really taking care. First off a marmite has nothing to do with the revolting British sludge that some find a delicacy. A marmite in Dieppe is a shellfish stew and this is the place to have it. Very good service and a wide selection of very fresh seafood complement the local treasure that is a marmite.
We chose the 44 euro menu and we were certainly not disappointed. Every course was cooked to perfection from the huitres and then the marmite dieppoise to the delicious desserts. One of the very best meals that I have ever eaten.
