Before finding this Patisserie-Salon de the' our Sunday in Verdun had staggered from one disappointment to another. First the battlefield tour was not running (contrary to earlier advice) and then the tour of the citadel broke down for the day just before we boarded! Finally, as we returned on foot to the commercial centre it commenced to rain so you can imagine our spirits were at a bit of a low ebb. How a country which can run such a superb railway system can also be responsible for such a variable tourism industry is one of life's minor but frustrating mysteries. We arrived in Verdun's city center for the day. My wife was born here in 1965 and she wanted to visit some of those places her father told her about. Anyway we stopped at this cafe to pick up some lunch before on the Verdun tour. We were met by a very friendly manager who prepared some sandwiches for us and hoped that we would have good visit in the town. Later that afternoon after successfully finding the army hospital where my wife was born we stopped back by the cafe for some dinner. He remembered us and served up some delicious quiche pies. This pretty little patisserie, bakery and restaurant is located just off the river down a pedestrian side street. The chef/patissier is so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We went around mid afternoon for coffee and a snack. The food was so delicious that we ordered a Tourte Lorraine for the next day, which we collected for our onward journey northwards. There is an extensive list of celebratory foods and festive specialties available to order. High recommended for an authentic French experience.
If you take the time to stop here, you will return to the fence. you will begin by being welcomed by a "real merchant" that will make you feel at home. Then, whether you enjoy pastries, pastries or lunch, you will be delighted with the flavours and textures offered. You will only have to taste wines, champagnes or other spirits of the most beautiful houses and you will only have a desire ... to come back as soon as possible!

We didn't want breakfast in our hotel and found this place near to the river. There were 7 of us. The host couldn't be more welcoming or attentive and the food was superb. We went every morning for breakfast and also one lunch. A really great find and we'd all thoroughly recommend a visit if you're in Verdun. The cakes and pastries are all excellent
Le patron et sa famille sont adorables, maison familiale ou tout est fait sur place. Concept sympa pâtisserie, restau et vente de spiritueux dans une ambiance chaleureuse. Je recommande vivement, le repas était formidable et servi avec amour. On se serait cru entre amis.
Rather than take breakfast in our hotel we opted for this traditional cafe. Located in the old town just a minute from the river. Good call ! Very friendly/welcoming staff good coffee croissant we should have taken some of the delicious pastries for lunch ! Recommended
Great place with a freindly staff. Seven of us turned up and it was no problem to sort out tables etc.wewere welllooke after . The food waslovely. It was so good we went back for lunch. No expensive. Wouldbe happy to recomment it to anyone. Cream cakes are to die for.

We stopped over early in the morning with three small kids. Had a seat in the sun and enjoyed their breakfast consisting of jam, croissant, bread, butter, coffee and orange juice. Owner super friendly and adequate. Quick service with a smile. Loved it
