A small 5 table restaurant next to a hotel. The design of ears of corn carried through all from walls to decorations and appetizers snacks. The cook had made small surprises, twists and challenges to every dish. Tuna served with beetroot and cherry sauce for instance. Or the small cakes at the end. Where one had a texture that crumbled surprisingly. Or another combining white chocolate with basil. We took the wine pairing with the market menu. It was many wines I would never have chosen by myself es. But each carried it's right in it's own again due to twists, surprises or combinations. We had this on a Michelin trip. Located in Rúa da Tafona, this hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. We were greeted by chef Lucia Freitas, who welcomed us. Small cozy restaurant overlooking the kitchen. Nicely furnished with a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The food presentation was unbeatable with ingredients from the local garden and the local market. The chef was able to record our gluten and spice tolerant friends. The wine pairing offered comes from the Riveira Sacra. Well earned Michelin Star for Lucia and her crew.
Innovative cuisine of varied flavors, with emphasis on seafood and fresh vegetables. A Tafona is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited in terms of the quality of the ingredients, the unique and surprising combinations of flavors that complement one another. Some of the reviewers found the combinations too weird, but I don’t. I praise the chef for having been daring and creative. The staff are professional and friendly and there is an excellent wine list (and a good sommelier too).
We had a great time in A Tafona. The service was faultless, the waitress and sommelier explained about the dishes and the stories behind the vineyards. They kept our table clean and were so friendly. The food was incredible, really interesting and delicious balance of flavors and all very seasonal. We had the "fast" tasting menu that was 10 courses and we were filled at the end. Would recommend. An unexpected and pleasant surprise in Santiago de Compostela. We had the standard menu, mostly fish and local vegetables and was simply delicious. The “merluza” was the best I’ve ever had. The wine list was very interesting, mostly from the region. The ambiance cosy and minimalist and the service very friendly and attentive. For sure we will come back.

6 out of 5 stars! Absolutely incredible meal. Every dish was incredible and so different. I had the anniversary menu with 6 snacks, 12 dishes and 3 desserts. It's amazing. The mushroom shell could have been my favorite, although it is hard to choose!
What an amazing restaurant. One of the best I have been to. They changed their entire menu to accommodate our vegetarian preferences. This should be a two Michelin star restaurant and I do not doubt it will soon be!! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
