My 3 friends and I, know it as 'Fred's Place'!We visit this little fishing town once or twice a year; early and late summer. In my 3 visits, I and my friends find ourselves in 'Fred's Place' daily as our local bar and also to eat some most outstanding seafood.Almost as a ritual we always sit down for a late lunch to their very special fish boat. The crustacea are served in a very large boat! This ‘boat’ comprises all locally caught or harvested fish from the town’s fish market, some 500 meters from 'Fred's Place', The fish market is situated right next to where the fishing boats unload their catch. It can't get any fresher than that! We are always treated to ‘boat’ stacked high with lobsters...
What a great unpretentious little restaurant that is frequented by locals.It was a blustery day with a little drizzle so as walking along prom on the spot decided to get in from the weather and have a spot of lunch .Well it was busy .Everybody seemed to be having seafood particularly the moules.Well the amount served was fit for a king. The staff were used to it being busy as they were unflappable. Small seaside seafront restaurant that on a day with poor weather does not from the outside anything special .But it is for a lunchtime meal. The moules were the best we have ever had in france so well worth a try and not expensive.if the locals use it it must be good.
Right on the beach front, with a quiet road between you and Omaha beach (or part thereof), if you time it right you can sit and watch the parade of D-Day military vehicles pass you by. This time we were just there for lunch after visiting the Ranger Museum. Sat on the veranda as it was a nice day, and had a lovely lunch accompanied by some local cider. Lovely lunch, good variety of dishes available, and the chocolate mousse was awesome. Good service and good value for money. Has won a recommendation by le Routard for many years in a row, which has always served us well when visiting a restaurant when you can't get online to check Tripadvisor.
..I rate it four out of five because it was better than average. This is very much a bar that serves food and was ideal as a lunch stop between Pointe du Hoc and the German Cemetery at La Cambe. The terrace was full ( great sea view) so we sat inside which was a bit dark on a sunny day. The service was fine and the food hit the spot without being special. The frites were excellent. I only wish we had eaten there the day before and not at the Brasserie au 6 Juin in Arromanches which was truly awful! So in that regard worth a journey. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Go for the moules/ and other crustaceans. Very nice, small restaurant. Day we went, we were the only Americans, which is a good thing. Love to see a place filled with locals. Good value. Can sit outside when the weather is good. Plenty of ice...More
We visited on our way to the museum a few doors away on 6th June. The service was brisk and helpful. It was a good vantage point to see lots of wartime jeeps etc going past. Even the waiters were in army uniform. Great fun.
We stopped there in our road trip through Normandy and we discovered the amazing moules done in la plage I would highly recommend the moules au camembert... They are amazing!
Took a bit of finding but worth it. Looking out at the ocean. We both had moles et fries with a glass of wine. Service was good and food was lovely. Would recommend Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We ordered the Moules lunch special not thinking we would be served 100 mussels!! Wow!!! If you love 'em this is the place. Nice outside seating along the port.
