Der Rat von Tripadvisor erwies sich als mehr als richtig. Typische Tessiner Atmosphäre mit hervorragendem Essen. Wir wurden im nebenan gelegenen Fünf-Sterne-Hotelrestaurant des Albergo Orselina mit ausgezeichnetem Essen verwöhnt und wollten etwas Lokaleres. Das war die richtige Wahl: Ich hatte als Vorspeise ein leckeres Sepiagericht der Spitzenklasse, mein Begleiter wählte ein Nudelgericht mit Tomaten-Wodka-Sauce, ebenfalls hervorragend. Der Hauptgang war weniger außergewöhnlich, eine gute Portion Roastbeef mit einer ausgezeichneten Remoulade und ein typischer Rindereintopf mit Portweinsoße und einer bemerkenswerten Polenta. Die Portionen waren so großzügig, dass wir leider keinen Nachtisch...
We ate at this restaurant twice while staying in Orselina. It was so good we had to go back a second time. The restaurant is small and our second visit was on a Saturday evening. We did not have a reservation. Still, they made accommodations for us. At the end of the meal, the chef came to our table and asked if we were pleased and yes we were. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Switzerland. We cannot imagine coming to Locarno and not dining here. There is seating outside weather permitting. It is a good idea to make reservations or arrive very early. The waitress was very helpful even though she spoke no English. A lot of local residents dine here.
A small, family-run restaurant built into the hillside. Warm open fire in winter, outdoor seating area in summer.The menu was excellent. Prices not cheap, but reasonable by Swiss standards (two meals, with non-alcoholic drinks, under 100 CHF). It is not an extensive menu, but everything is freshly booked.The restaurant was fairly busy despite the fact that we went in low season, when the cable car and funicular to/from Orselino were both shut. We enjoyed our first evening here so much that we came back on another day, and had another excellent meal.
This restaurant is delicious if you want to try the typical regional food from a Grotto. Ornella and Kurt make you feel like a friend offering a superb service and an amazing food! Don't miss the Penne a la Vodka or the traditional chicken wings with the secret butter sauce! You will never forget the taste!! It's just delicious. The restaurant itself is very cosy with fireplace and typical Italian grotto flair! Thank you to the team for filling our stomach many many times with delicious food! We love this place! Die Familie und ich gingen hier etwas spät zum Abendessen, es war kurz nach 21:30 Uhr und die Küche war kurz vor Schließung, aber sie waren so freundlich, uns Essen und Nachtisch bestellen zu lassen, die sehr gut präsentiert, frisch und lecker waren! Die Atmosphäre ist schön und gemütlich. Ich kann es auf jeden Fall empfehlen, hier zu essen! Wir waren alle mit allem sehr zufrieden und das Personal, das uns bediente, war freundlich!
Walked across the street from Villa Orselina for one of the best dinners ever. Had a veal dish over some of the best risotto ever! The veal was topped with mushrooms and crusty prosciutto which made for an excellent combo. Unfortunately this was a specific for the event so you would have to cross fingers that it was available. I'm not a big fan of risotto but this was exceptional. Don't pass this up!!
Popped over to this place while staying at Villa Orselina across the road. Really lovely "grotto" style restaurant with a rustic atmosphere and excellent food. It's not cheap, but worth it for the taste, quality and freshness of the ingredients - probably the best Parma ham and melon dishes I've ever had. Friendly service and an extensive wine lost with some local Ticanese options. Would recommend.

The terrasse is great, very peasant. Food is good and service is nice. The dishes are well presented and quantity is descent.
