Alara's is my Turkish of choice in Canberra.Obviously there is some prep laid in, but when it comes to when you order, everything happens then and there.The pides pizzas (as noted elsewhere, they're calzone style) are the flagships - naturally - and rightly so. The Kiymali (minced lamb) and the Peynirli (spinach, feta and cheese) are my favourites. The plain pide bread is similarly great.But don't overlook the entrees - in particular, the Borek (feta cheese in filo pastry and deep fried) and the Kabak Mucveri (deep fried zucchini balls). If you've read my other reviews, you'll know I enjoy an open kitchen. I am always amazed at watching kitchen staff work, and that's what you get at Alara's....
In Dickson and after a quick lunch that is fresh, delicious and good value for money? Well for $10 the kebabs at Alara's Turkish Restaurant are perfect. I work across the road and there's not a day that passes when I don't see a bunch of hungry school boys sitting outside with a kebab in hand. The rolls are so fresh they must be made in-house on the day. Warning: the kababs are very filling!
Really fast serviceFriendly staffOur pides (tavuklu, half half kiymali / kusbasili) were excellent.The borek and kabak were also good.The hommous was really good and the Turkish bread was the best we have had.The baklava looks nice and we have three pieces for take away but haven't tried them yet. $64 plus $7.50 for the three baklava - we byo'd the drinks.
Recently had some takeaway from Alara’s for dinner.Really fast service. The food we had was terrific. And the Turkish/bread with the hommus… OMG… it was a meter long.. It was yummy… but couldn’t eat it all and had to finish the next day.Definitely worth checking out…(Note parking is horrendous and expensive around Dickson)

Really good service, heaps of people from my school go there at lunch. Walked in to get a kebab the other night but they told me they messed up and cooked to much fro another order and asked if i wanted it for half price. Bargain.
This place is the worst with its unfriendly staff, dirty cutlery and uncooked food that made us feel quite ill, I will never return here nor will I recommend it to my family, friends and/or followers, a real disappointment
Always a good meal and plenty to eat. We have been many times ... and never disappointed. The food is always good and the price reasonable.
