Conveniently located in the old city in San Sebastián, this restaurant offers both pintxos and a prix fixe menu. We tried the Zahar menu and found it relatively creative with a few tasty appetizers and entrees but some of the dishes were excessively salty. The wine list is decent but not great. We made the mistake of having a rose which lacked character (but there were only a few options in this category). Service was decent but the staff seemed a bit harried. Reservations are advised.
Not sure why there are some really negative reviews. We found the service to be excellent, friendly and engaging. They went out of their way to accommodate us, even though we had no booking. The food was fabulous. I had the hot prawns, the melt in the mouth lamb and cheesy cheesecake. For me on this day 27th June, it was a little jewel discovered amongst the pintxos bars etc. I have put this on my list of to go places. Well done mi Hermano y Rebecca for your awesome hospitality.
Almorzamos el lunes por la tarde para dos sin reservas. Los menús son asequibles para una cocina refinada. Los servidores son de primera categoría. Recomendamos este restaurante si quieres una muy buena comida. Gracias por este delicioso momento.
Interesting view with the set menu style and decent pricing. Had the 3 course and a wine paying extra for the steak. Wow it was worth the extra. Service was quite fun. Cheesy cheesecake kinda cheeseboard style that some might not like. I did. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

El camarero muy atento y agradable, la comida inmejorable y el ambiente muy tranquilo y comodo sobre todo dadas las fechas que son en San Sebastián. Volveremos sin ninguna duda.
