Unassuming from the outside, Alea is a culinary gem on the edge of Montmartre. I visited after building up a hefty appetite site seeing in the area. I was intrigued by the glowing reviews that tout Alea as must visit restaurant, and I was not to be disappointed. Alea boasts food of the highest quality, beautifully plated and served with a smile. As an amuse bouche I was served roasted mackerel paired with tapenade and lemon, which whet my appetite with surprisingly delicate flavours. This was followed by a Langoustines rôties entrée, that featured rich, textured, layers. Great little modern French bistronomic restaurant. Well-crafted and rather original dishes, all done with great finesse. The starters were really great and the dishes were very good too. Everything is also superbly presented, the compositions on the plate are superb (see photos and the service is very pleasant. Only the desserts were a little disappointing, nothing bad but it was made with less finesse than the rest (very hard tart base, a little heavy chocolate filling, a little too sweet cream in the cabbage, etc. , but that remains good and regressive so it doesn't really pose a problem.
Wow! Magnificent lunch menu! Dishes with a simple statement, which surprise visually and especially taste-wise with frank tastes and perfectly balanced combinations. A treat from start to finish. Special mention for the original and super delicious floating island. Finally, how can we not talk about the price: €25 for a starter/main course/dessert of this quality... It's gastronomy within everyone's reach. Well done, keep it up. I don't go to Montmartre often, but I will undoubtedly come back to taste the evening menu.
