I used to love Alto Lounge, but my recent experiences have been disappointing. The food is not worth the money, and the staff are unwelcoming and rude. The girl behind the bar had a terrible attitude and seemed uninterested in being friendly. The food is overpriced and there was hardly anything in stock. The breakfast I ordered was lukewarm with one egg on a soggy piece of bread that wasn't even toasted or buttered. For £10, one egg on a breakfast is not acceptable. The sausages looked undercooked and the whole dish was unappetizing. I will not be returning to Alto Lounge and I do not recommend it unless you want to feel unwelcome and eat overpriced, cold, and clearly microwaved food.
The service at this restaurant is excellent, with a good selection of vegan breakfast options to cater to a variety of dietary needs. The price is a bit steep at £10, but the mix of baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, falafel, greens and peppers, toast, and vegan "bacon" was satisfying. Coffee is an additional £3. I may opt for a smaller, more affordable breakfast selection next time. Despite needing to send my meal back to be reheated, the staff were attentive and accommodating. The atmosphere was lively but not overly loud, and the staff responded quickly and effectively when a customer became ill and collapsed (thankfully, he recovered).
There are many dining options in Caversham with a variety of food choices, but I highly recommend trying Alto Lounge. Located on the north side of Church Street, just north of Caversham Bridge, this restaurant offers a cozy pub-like atmosphere with wood floors, tables, and an impressive collection of pictures on the walls. I dined here twice during my stay in the area and enjoyed an egg sandwich and a burger, both of which were delicious. The service was quick and efficient, with the option to order online or at the bar. I also recommend trying their ciders and ales, as they are top-notch. Alto Lounge is a great choice for a meal in the area.
What a lovely place we stumbled on tonight. It was extremely busy but the hosting waitress still spent time welcoming us and giving us an update on food timings. We ordered drinks and desserts. The churros were perfection and the sticky toffee pudding was very good though could have used a little more sauce (that's probably just my preference). Both waitresses were warm and friendly and the ambience was great. Dogs were allowed which was nice.

Historically food has always been good at the Alto Lounge. A number of items not available and when food arrived not to the usual standard. Burger was small not even 4oz let alone the 6oz on the menu. Brioche bun replaced with what looked like a cheap sliced Warburtons one and not even going to say what the coleslaw was like. Very rarely complain but requested a refund and left it was that bad.
the alto lounge has a really great atmosphere and is a beautiful place to eat. they order at the theke and then the friendly team bring them to eat. only tiny criticism is that if they are very busy as at a weekend morning sometimes service is a little slow and they have a little less time to be friendly. beautiful selection of breakfast but and some good burgers to boot.
Vegan breakfast very good and very hearty, husband enjoyed his carnivore breakfast. Service was very good, staff were friendly and attentive. This was our first visit, plan to return for an evening meal in the future.
This is a local favourites of ours. Easy to order, great hospitality and good menu. Always buzzing and popular with all age groups. We had a late brunch today which was lovely.

really friendly helpful staff that was very welcoming when we came with our big dog for a coffee on a Sunday when it was busy. would be highly recommended to visit.
Staff are extremely friendly.. food needs uplifting but it’s OK for the place.. cozy cafe in winter and good addition to Caversham
