We had reservations for a Saturday at 5pm. We were running late 15-20 minutes, we called them to let them know and they were very accommodating. We picked seats at the bar to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen and it was a great experience! It is a set menu and roughly 2.5-3 hours experience but highly recommend! They do email you asking about any dietary restrictions prior to your arrival. They were very accommodating and made sure to exclude or provide alternatives when I arrived for dinner. Overall we had a good experience at Altura, with one major exception. First, I’ll start with the good. The food was top-notch. The pasta course was phenomenal, and the wagyu beef entree was among the best I’ve had in my life. I cannot say enough good things about these two dishes. Now for the exception- our reservation was at 8:30. It was well past 9:15 before our first course was served, and every course thereafter took what seemed like an eternity to arrive. I wouldn 't recommend this place to anyone. We went there for my birthday and not only did they take forever between the services, the AC was cranked up so high we needed a blanket and had to leave early since most of us started feeling sick after 3hrs. The service was quite shocking, the servers clearly didn 't care if we enjoyed ourselves or not. Cold and impersonal service. The food was okay but the raviolis with corn were downright weird. For 300$ a head I expected better. It doesn 't matter if you 're there for an occasion, they won 't make you feel like it 's a celebration. I felt the quality of the food was maybe worth $100 per person, but since I paid $300 per person I ended up feeling ripped off. For this price point, I would expect much better food. Also, the service was extremely slow. It felt like we were at the restaurant forever. Ideally the wait time between dishes could be halved. I also agree with other reviews saying the AC is tuned too cold, but that was a minor issue compared to the other points.
I had a mediocre experience at Altura. The restaurant was cold and I fell sick for several days afterwards. I asked them to increase the temperature (which they told me they did) but the place remained cold. Service was slow. It took 30 minutes for each plate to arrive. The food was really good though but was not worth the price.
Beautiful and truly delicious food, friendly and caring staff. For a special occasion, I can't recommend it highly enough. We really enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Altura and you will too. Kid-friendliness: Not really an appropriate restaurant for kiddos
