This was my second visit to this restaurant, and I decided to come for lunch around 1:00 PM. The place was buzzing with people ordering and waiting for their food. I ordered the half-and-half sandwich, which includes half brisket and half pulled pork, along with a side of baked beans. As soon as I took a bite of my sandwich, it felt like pure heaven! The meat was incredibly juicy and tender—absolutely delicious. The baked beans had a wonderful flavor as well. I definitely need to come back here more often. The staff were very friendly too.
I’ll begin by stating that the BBQ chicken and pulled pork were quite good, but the sides were really disappointing! The cornbread was unflavored and had corn in it, the mac and cheese lacked taste—just cheese without any seasoning—and the greens were unpleasant with what tasted like warmed-up Open Pit sauce! Honestly, I’m currently craving the meat, and I think I’ll just order the meat on its own next time. Food: 3, Service: 2, Atmosphere: 3.
The brisket, Amish smoked BBQ chicken, and roasted potatoes are absolutely amazing! Everything on the menu is fantastic! Because of Arkin's excellent food and the pandemic, the wait can be quite long, but it's definitely worth it. The best days to visit are the day after their closing days, as the food seems to be at its freshest then! Plus, the owner, Arkin, is wonderful! Do yourself a favor and indulge in some Arkin's! I rarely give a restaurant a perfect 5-star rating, but this one truly deserves it! The BBQ here is the best I've ever had from a takeout place. The brisket was fantastic, and the smoked chicken was absolutely delicious. The sauce is addictive, and the side dishes were quite good too. And, of course, who can resist Texas toast? I will definitely be coming back!
My go to place but it is slowly changing. I have not been satisfied lately, today the buns on the chicken sandwich was burnt and the brisket sandwich meat today was dry and tasted like leftovers and looked liked scraps. I visited this restaurant after the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted and had a lovely time sitting on the back patio. However, I was disappointed by our server's lack of attentiveness. We had to wait more than 30 minutes just to get our water and drinks.
