We came as a group of 10 for my Mother in Laws 60th birthday, and I must say it was a shambles. Please let me say, that we have been many times prior to this and have had excellent food and fantastic service, so not sure what has happened. Firstly, my Father in Law had to pay a deposit for 12 of us, which was absolutely fine, however, one of those was for a baby who would not have been eating. Unfortunately the mother and baby were unable to attend due to illness, so we lost £10 of the deposit. I would like to Firstly ask, why was we charged for a baby, who was never going to be eating? We had a great Christmas meal at Armstrong's, and I've got to give a shoutout to Emma and Chef Stephen for making it the best! Emma's management of our booking was seamless, making the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. Her attention to detail and fantastic communication made us feel not just like customers, but cherished guests. The food was superb each course was pipping hot and delicious. The ambiance was festive, and the service staff provided attentive and friendly service throughout. So, if you're looking for restaurant which has fantastic service, good value for money, great food in a fantastic environment then Armstrong's is the one for you. It is a 10 out of 10 from us!
Having had an occasional drink at Armstrongs bar a few times we thought we would try the food in the restaurant part whilst on a short visit to Clacton. We went late afternoon when it was quiet and were seated by the window with a decent view of beach and pier. The menu is on par with most pub choices and priced accordingly. We were more than satisfied with our meals both in portion sizes and quality and also impressed with the waiting girls who were polite, efficient and helpful. As others have mentioned, it does have a certain holiday camp air to it but it was none the worse for that and we would most definitely use again when in Clacton.
Booked to eat .was told we had to pay ,£10 deposit which never the case previously.Place was empty when we got there Food wasn't cooked properly.Problem was I'd eaten around the uncooked bit.Mentioned it to the waitress who said she would see if possible reduction for cooking it incorrectly but nobody seem to care .Duty manager was aware but made no effort to speak to us.Non existent customer service and poor food probably explains why so empty .Has got worse over the years and there are now much better options in Clacton ie Martello lounge .won't be spending anymore money here as not a good experience anymore Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
My husband and I went for breakfast and we regularly go for an evening meal which we enjoy. Well what can I say the service was terrible, the cleaner seated us and bought our pot of tea. The waitress bought our breakfast over as I cut into the sausage I noticed it was cold and under cooked , I called her back over, she then replied do you want it well done then. She took both breakfasts away it came back the sausage were cooked but the rest of it was stone cold, lovely place but avoid the breakfast. Also the cleaner started to clean the windows with spray as we were sitting there trying to enjoy the sea view.
The food is ok, nothing special but not bad. The junior wait staff are lively but on more than one occasion the manager has been quite rude and snapped at us; she has quite the attitude. I think we're done with this place now.
