The ambiance inside the restaurant was pleasant, and our waitress, although new, was friendly. However, some of the other staff seemed frustrated about having to serve customers outside in the rain, and their complaints were loud enough for us to overhear. While we understand their frustration, it shouldn’t have been audible to diners. As for the food, it was mediocre. The scrambled eggs came out cold, and the pancakes tasted quite dry. We ordered a large orange juice, but it turned out to be surprisingly small; when we inquired about the size of a small, we were told it would be the size of a shot glass, which we found absurd. Ashford House is a great local family owned restaurant serving home cooked Irish Dishes. It has a great old world atmosphere and the staff is always friendly and courteous. They have some great traditional Irish Dishes such as Corned beef and Cabbage and Fish and Chips, but also offer Steaks and Burgers. Everything is made from scratch and is always good. They have a great selection of Irish beers too. Prices are reasonable, and they have daily specials. Recommend the corned beef or Reuben and the Fish and Chips. The Chicken Parmesan is really good and a large portion. Recommend you give them a try if you want something different.
I highly recommend going to Winston's Market to get the great-tasting Irish food yourself to enjoy anywhere else but here. The waitress Dawn had such a poor attitude. She was so rude whenever we asked a question. There were four tables total (two people at each), but you would have thought she had a whole other banquet room to attend to with the way she acted. It was an inconvenience to her to ask how big a certain appetizer was and the price of a cheeseburger. It was actually shocking how she had responded. I have been here years ago with a completely different experience, but personnel changes can make quite the difference.
My father is 95 years Old country Irish. He is set in his ways and wanted a certain table and the hostess went out of her way to make sure he was comfortable even though he picked the biggest table and there was only two of us. I will not take my father to any other restaurant because he is not afraid to say if he is not happy at a restaurant and he has been At the Ashford House at least eight times and has not complained yet. My sister opted for the Cottage Pie, which is similar to Shepherd's Pie, and unfortunately, she found it quite disappointing. The meat resembled pulled pork rather than chunks of beef. On the bright side, the portion was generous, but it didn't look very appetizing. She mentioned that she would choose something different next time. My other sister ordered a Reuben, and my cousin went for a corned beef sandwich, and they both enjoyed their meals. Overall, a nice visit with a few hits and a miss!
This was my first visit to the restaurant, and all I can say is WOW!!! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server was incredibly polite and patient, especially since it was our first time there. She answered all of our questions about the menu and was very approachable. The food arrived hot and delicious! I will definitely make the two-hour drive to bring my family back to try it.
The best vegetable beef soup in this area! The closest I have encountered to my Dads homemade soup. Also, their garlic dressing is the real deal if you like garlic! The salad and soup is typically my usual order as they are really good!

Most authentic full Irish I've had (yet) this side of the Atlantic. Great food, ever-so-friendly and attentive wait staff. Not one single complaint after leaving here. Will gladly be back soon.
