IHave a client looking for a great restaurant in the west end, I remembered Astros as 25 years ago that they have excellent food, quiet and awesome service Tonight at approximately 21:48 Hrs, I saw that they had their open sign in, and that the door was unlocked. I entered and saw the same quiet beautiful restaurant that I remembered with the exception that I was quickly ushered out saying they were closed at 21:00 hours. I pointed out that sign was still on and that door was open.I know that neighborhood and it can be rough, and I did show up with shorts, a golf shirt, and a cap. Reservation for 10 and must say it was exceptional service. Very efficient, meals came fast staff was very kind.All meals were amazing with nice portion sizes for decent prices!Kid-friendliness: We had a 7, 5 and 2 year old with us and they accompanied toddler with nice high chair and good Neal options in kids portions.Parking: Lots of parking available on a Sunday night. (Not sure how it would be during the week or Saturday when neighboring businesses are open)Dietary restrictions: Was able to offer a couple different options for gluten free.
We live out of town and stopped by for lunch before leaving for home. What a find! My son had the club house sandwich and he said the best he 'd ever had. I had the 1/2 rack of Greek ribs with Greek salad. One of my favorites and it was very good. They kindly allowed me to substitute the lentil soup for the potato. The lentil soup was made from scratch and was great. Service was friendly and speedy. Sure beat any of the fast food restaurants.Dietary restrictions: A great selection when on a restrictive diet.
I'm sure this place has been a staple of the community for a long time. You can feel the history as soon as you walk in. The menu is traditional but the food is very delicious with generous portions. Hopefully enough younger folks will adventure to try it out to keep it going for another generation.Kid-friendliness: Booster seats available as well as a kids/seniors menu
Love to see the family style restaurant continue to thrive. Great food, friendly service. Restaurant decor is a little dated but nostalgic. Good to see the owner/ manager continuing the tradition of greeting customers at the table, maintaining the standards.
It was really nice, food was delicious I would say the one thing I had a problem with or two things actually was no salt on the table(not a huge deal) amd not that many fries with the burger. Other than that definitely worth while to eat here.
First time at Astro’s and we had the most amazing lunch today. The service was great, and the food was phenomenal! Can’t wait to come back.
