Arriving at Gare du Nord much too early for our Eurostar train home, we thought we’d have a leisurely lunch. We had suitcases in tow so were reluctant to go far, so assumed by being literally in a tourist trap of our own making, we would get poor food at extortionate prices. Well we opted for Au Baroudeur the reason being, so we could sit facing Gare du Nord, as, much to my surprise, it really is a stunning building! Well what a great choice we made. What an all round delight it was! Hence the 5 stars. The food was fresh and tasty, the wine was refreshing and the prices not bad at all, especially considering the location. baroudeur is a word that means backpacker, adventurer. this bar is located opposite the north station, next to several hotels and restaurants. You put it next to the indiana hat jones that is on the facade. there is an original decoration of half adventure. eat well and not very expensive, much better than in the north station. you can easily get there, it is convenient to meet with friends because you pass the rer b, line 7, 5, 2, 4 near, and many buses. food is a mix of French dishes and some dishes from the world. there is a good variety of drinks and cocktails a little original. good presentation and good service.
This place is very close to the Gare du Nord. Unfortunately, that is where the good news stops. Friendly staff welcome you to into this clip joint only to skin you alive with their exorbitantly overpriced food and drink. France is a wonderful country, but everything evil about it is condensed and may be found in this nasty ripoff joint. However, hungry or thirsty you maybe please avoid this treacherous s hole. France and Paris are much better than this, and they would be well advised to shut this place down.
The food was OK, more like fast food, the attitude of the personnel is bad. They do not like to hear anything but French, they are arrogant and slow. Also, burgers that have almost not meat but 15 euros or so,,, You pay 30 euros for a modest meal worth 3 euros. Mc Donald's is 10 times better as food and value.
