Interesting to read previous reviews before we arrived as casual customers for a Thursday lunch in late September. A very gracious welcome and we were happy to be given water and some amuse bouche before considering which of the set menus to select. It certainly was not hurried but as we had cycled there from Villefranche a quick meal was not what we wanted.We decided on the middle option and the accompanying wines at their selection. This provided three mains, cheese and dessert. With a different wine with each course. Every course was interesting and the matched wines excellent. As another reviewer points out, dinner here is an endless procession of tiny plates with inventive and novel tastes and combinations. This is a gastronomic experience, not necessarily a dining one. And service is excellent and reasonably attentive. I'm not sure I would use the word "fussy," as the other review does, but I understand that concept -- I'd call it a question of emphasis or preciousness. There was simply no main course, no obvious logical way of tying together the various courses or appreciating that things were beginning or coming to an end. Beautiful restaurant, but all and all this did not live up to its expectations. After more than 1 hour, we still didn't had a chance to look at the menu. During this time, the water glasses were also empty. After 2 hours we almost asked for the bread basket that fortunatly arrived a bit later with the first plate. When the main course were served after a long wait, we had to ask to get the wine we have ordered. The wine came in after we had almost finished the course. Friendly staff but the service was really slow. We almost fell asleep waiting for the desert. However, beautiful setting and the foie gras plate was delicious.
Hopefully my title says it all - the food and flavours continue to surprise (this wasn't our first visit). The style has developed and is improved. The dining room was full the staff always on hand but never too assertive. My one small gripe - wine not on the table - I know this is a style and service thing but I like the chance both to pour the stuff I'm going to pay for and to gauge how much is being drunk - but this is a minor gripe.Wheelchairs work for the restaurant and they have a disabled loo (which I think is new since our last visit).All in all a great restaurant and I think we'll return soon Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
This Michelin starred restaurant was outstanding. It’s lovely and the food and service were impeccable. If there is any point to take exception to it would be that in some ways chef Romain Barthe is almost too creative. There were so many dishes, including about 5 different amuse bouche. Even the 3 kinds of bread were artfully presented.Everything was delicious, although there were several highlights which were unforgettable. My favorite dish was the langoustine with fennel and some sort of foam, although my perfectly prepared lamb dish was also fabulous. This restaurant was outstanding!
Went for lunch. You will need a car. Superb restaurant, and the country side is great. Take the opportunity to visit the local vineyards which are all around you. Our lunch was a group booking with a set menu. We had about six to five servings. Starters are not large, and may be one of them could be bigger. The veal was nice and tender, and the Cheese cart was extensive. The place is outside Lyon, and the hotel has car parking.Worth the visit, and I will be back soon.Fantastic view from the balcony over the French countryside.
What a fantastic find. Lovely hotel, modern, light and airy. My only recommendation would be the addition of air conditioning the rooms were so hot. The restaurant was truly wonderful and each course was a delight. Expect to dine for 3-4 hours to savour the food. Will definitely be back
The tasting menu was wonderful with the wine pairing. All the food were in high quality and cooked to perfection. The butter was AOC, the beef was Charolaise and even the knife was top brand. Great culinary experience! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Brilliant dinner and overnight stay en route to the alps. Well worth a special trip, a totally memorable meal, will definitely plan a return visit next time.
