Having read the excellent reviews we spent 3 days trying to find the place and only succeeded after finally asking another local resturant where it was. The location is situated on Murol beach of the lovely Lake Chandon. Unfortunately whilst the fayre is okay it really doesn't do justice to the superb location, the staff are friendly and the wine we ordered was very nice however the menu selection is small and there are no starters available which makes the small portions of the main course seem even smaller and consequently, even allowing for the excellent location, a little pricey too. It may well be that this place is perfect for lunch on a summers day but fails to deliver fully on its po...
We stumbled across Auberge de la plage one afternoon while holidaying near Lac Chambon. We booked a table for 4 adults and 4 children to celebrate our friend's birthday the next evening. Beautiful views, fulsome and delicious local food....but most importantly we all left with the overriding feeling that all of the staff had been genuinely committed to ensuring we had a wonderful evening....which we did. The chef even made a delicious and huge birthday cake as a surprise for the birthday boy, at our request. The evening ended with the kids skimming pebbles across the lake as we enjoyed the sunset and another glass or two; a memorable dinner.
We had the pleasure of first having a drink in the afternoon. And immediately reserved for dinner. And it was great. Very good dinner (bavette) and dessert. Crème brûlée, but not just from a fridge, but near your table flamed ! And a great taste!
Super friendly service, very pleasant for a drink or an ice cream with a view of the lake but on the kitchen side the quality of the products is really not great. For my part, the Auvergne burger at 16th is really not worth the cost.
