We were lucky to get hold of one of the last tables for lunch as it was full by the time we arrived. The interior is subtle and relaxing with nice views over the river Blavet. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I can honestly say that every aspect of the meal was excellent with pleasantly different flavours. The prawns with garlic had a subtle oriental twist and were perfectly cooked. Likewise the fillet steak was spot on. Wine list is not too extensive and offers good value for money. The St Chinian was great with the steak. The chocolate dessert with mandarin sorbet was a delight. We have eaten here numerous times over the years. The food is divine and true french cuisine. Something for everyone and they catered well for a member of our groups dairy allergy.The setting is beautiful especially if you get a table on the patio overlooking the river. Then after a lovely meal a little walk in to Pontivy for a window shop and a maybe a drink at another of the bar/restaurants. If you get the chance go and enjoy the lovely food and atmosphere of the just out of town centre restaurant.
It looked that the waiters were having a bad day when we visited, but the recent reviews tend to indicate that this is usual for this place. This is the kind of behavior that creates all the bad stereotypes regarding French people. Don't get fooled, people are generally very nice in Pontivy. If we had read all the recent reviews on Tripadvisor, we would have chosen a different place to eat. Food was ok but overpriced.
We ate outside in this delightful setting by the Blavet river. The food was excellent and service was friendly and professional.
