Made the worst mistake on 31st March 2017 to eat at Auberge Ducs D'ocAfter deciding to go for the set menu and having a steak for my main course as looking around at other people's steak, I thought I was onto a winner as I would never normally order steak in a restaurant... Well what a mistake to make, when it arrived I could see it was bigger than others but NO MEAT JUST FAT, after showing the waitress/ owner I was told it's because you have a bigger bit of steak.. But I said there's no steak there just fat which I would not give to a dog, still no joy I wasn't offered anything else or a reduction on my meal, I must say this is the only time I have left a restaurant starving, which is surpr...
It was still quite early in the evening. We were going to eat at the restaurant next door but, as the staff there clearly didn't care about us, we chose the Auberge des Ducs D'Oc. As another reviewer has stated, there is a limited choice of fixed menus and a (relatively expensive) wine list. We chose the menu at €16.50 and a 50ml pichet of wine at €11.00. There was supposed to be a reduction of 10% on the food bill as we had arrived early but when we paid the bill it was disappointing to see they had cheated us and only given us a reduction on the wine and not the food!The food was frankly nothing special but the service was really good, making us feel very welcome in this restaurant, so ove...
We were warmly greeted and settled in to look at the menu. We chose one of the Menus. It included a nice small glass of sangria. We chose the wine suggested and it was very drinkable. The gizzard salad was OK but the gizzards themselves had no flavor. The onion soup came to the table boiling in the bowl. It had very little flavor. My fish with a curry seafood sauce was overcooked and had the color of curry but needed the curry flavor as well as salt and pepper. The beef dish was a quarter gristle and fat while the rest was tough and the sauce was also lacking flavor. The upside was the dessert was very nice. This is one of the few restaurants open during the winter.
My husband and I ate here on bank holiday Friday 11 november 2016. It had a good variety of foods - not just the local traditional "Cassoulet". We had the pate followed by the scallops then cheese plate then sorbet. Everything was absolutely delicious especially the scallops. Only criticism is there could have been more rice served with the scallops. The Kir and Wine were also reasonable. Service was just right - not too attentive. There was plenty of room and tables. Really worth a visit.

Our latish lunch on a Saturday in February was enjoyable, the service prompt and friendly. We were shown to a table by the courtyard window & both had the €16.50 menu. The onion soup was somewhat uninspiring, my entrecôte was excellent. The Cabardès rosé was good if a bit pricey. We've eaten in several restaurants in the Cité over the years. The Auberge des Ducs d'Oc holds its own, especially the service. We would lunch here again without hesitation.
Having eaten here 16 years ago we had to return - in fact it was the reason we stopped overnight in Carcassonne. Same people running it, same table, same circular staircase to the 'facilities', same wonderful cassoulet, and then the apple tart (with calvados) was absolute perfection. Service was excellent, ambience was brilliant, food and wine could not be bettered. Absolutely spot on!
We decided to stop here for lunch during our day trip to Carcassonne. The place is nice (we eat in the inside terrace) and the staff very friendly. The food was more than good for a touristy location ( special mention for the chocolate truffle dessert and the steak with green pepper sauce) and the price reasonable. Only down the coffee that was bad even by French standards
I went on a Monday evening in winter. The old town was almost empty and this restaurant was one of the (few) open places. The food is good. The wine list is also good and it is not expensive. It is inded a good option.

I decided to have dinner here after at other restaurants the kitchen was already closed. It was the best menu I had in Carcassonne.
