I had reviewd the Vielles Pierres a couple of years ago and ran out of superlatives. My visit today was even better. The restaurant is on the Flers by pass so no need to drive into town. The A88 motorway is now very close to Flers...and it becomes feasible as a small detour on the way south, or as a fitting end to a French holiday if you're on the way to Ouistreham. Sunday lunch, 30 tables full of French adult families two separate rooms housed groups with smaller children. The decor is very stylish but not gimmicky; tables well separated so conversation very easy. Staff little changed in the 20 years we've visited, invisibly professional. It is many years since we last ate here but obviously we should have returned before. Invited by friends we ate an excellent lunch served in a pleasant and relaxing ambiance. Our party ate dishes across all the available menus without causing the management any...problems with the billing or the service. The latter being very friendly and efficient. The dishes were tastefully presented without being pretentious and we all agreed that it was a restaurant we would be visiting again. The wine list is well priced and included some good wines by the glass which will suit the single client keeping an eye on staying within the law. If you are in the area do not hesitate to try this restaurant.
The restaurant is situated on a minor road leading into Flers. The building from the exterior looks traditional stone built but inside it is modern. The decor is in soothing shades of grey. It has a clever enclosed terrace and comfortable outside space also. The...food was well cooked and well presented. The service was attentive and polite. The wine list had a large selection of half bottles of wine which is good when someone has to do the driving.
the decor is somewhat strange (modern,) but eating and the service are amazingly good. we have eaten a few times a day and have worked quite a lot through the menus. it is true to say that there is no great choice. but what there is to choose is excellent. the pricing is very reasonable and I have not considered recommending this to others. eating is beautifully presented and the quality is excellent.
One of the best meals we have had so far in our French long journey . Calamaris and Langustines for 6hex1st course, a good Chabli on the side and half a lobster as main course. Unbelievably rich. Then came the cheese plate; rich, generous and...not only local (i.e , Normandy). Please do not miss the St. Pierres restaurant . The staff, the food, the ambience etc. A pearl not yet uncovered, I presume.
We drove past, spotted this restaurant and turned round to go back and so glad we did. The elegant decor, exceptional fixed price and a la carte menus plus excellent wine list makes this top of the list for when in this part of Normandy....Everything is cooked and served beautifully and the puddings are works of art. Attentive service. Well run. Worth adding to your itinerary
we visited this restaurant for Sunday dinner with friends during a short break to normandie. the menu choice was not extensive, but enough to satisfy every taste, our eating was more than excellent. the service was super, friendly and on cue throughout...I recommend definitiw a visit if they are in the opposite, although trusting it is worth a ride if they are not.
very good quality eating and service. a very high presentation standard. the menu varies, but given the type of business has sufficient variety, but is not far they are select about what they offer and do it very well. I make a point to visit this restaurant every time I was in the normandie, I was disappointed.
