After our 9 mile cycle up to the summit we felt we deserved to stop for a treat. We actually originally cycled past the Auberge to go to the snack bar opposite the Tourist Office, but went back to the Auberge as it looked preferable. The lady in there was delightfully helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our tarte aux myrtilles, but thank goodness there was extra sugar as it was a little sharp for our taste! My only criticism was that there was no soap in the toilets. All in all a wonderful location to enjoy the fabulous views and listen to the sound of cow bells.
We when last week-end and had reserved (prefered) We start to eat at 1PM and the appetizer buffet was quite poor. No refill only salads, no more smoked ham or other meet. After that we had a jarret de porc, was very good but potatoes are not frech but industrial ones. My wife had a trounedos de canard aux cerises, all was swimming in a red cherry sauce, not really fine to see, and the piece if duck was ridiculous. So some dishes are quite good but other really pooor make the rating average....You just have to be lucky and make the good choice.
De passage au ballon d’Alsace je me suis arrêté là tout à fait par hasard. Je confirme l’accueil « bof » Aucune empathie, offre très restreinte et la qualité n’y est pas du tout Attente assez longue pour avoir le plat (saucisse de Montbéliard qui ressemble à n’importe quelle saucisse vendue sous blister en grande surface et limite chaude… Quant aux frites… surgelées et mal cuites… Bref vraiment moyen, je ne vois pas l’interêt d’un tel établissement… Continuez un peu plus haut il y’a d’autres « auberges »…
We went to that inn on Saturday. friendlyly, we took with the aperitif a flame of death and a charcuterie plate, great. In the dish, some had taken a sauerkraut and others, a morbiflette. Everything was very good, and copied. Finally, we couldn't stop taking the traditional blueberry pie, exquisite!!!! the boss will have to give me his recipe. a high-level team, and a big thank you to the waitress for her goodness and professionalism. we highly recommend and very soon we will return.

While riding our two motorbikes we arrived up to the summit of the Ballon d'Alsace and there we found the Auberge. We have been received very kindly and we spent two nights in the Auberge of the Ballon d'Alsace; we appreciated very much the delicious and abundant food that we had for dinner, and we enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere and the beauty of the location, which is on the summit of a mountain and around only beautiful views...
We had soup in a big bowl, delicious potatoes gratin and wonderful smoked meat. For dessert of course tarte aux myrtilles. Nice old fashioned food. We felt like 2 people who had climbed a mountain and now got what they deserved...only we came up in a car : But still : great (much food and service!
My wife and I stopped at the Auberge du Ballon D'Alsace for a break and enjoyed a very good cup of coffee there sitting outside in the warm sunshine at an altitude of around 1,200 metres.
What a great welcome to a beautiful scenic area of France. Being Irish and working in the region, I was so happy to meet such friendly staff and enjoy great food and wine.

Great terrain, fantastic kitchen and delicious wine. A place to stop forgetting. The service is super kind. compliments on how people deal with the rules here.
Cuisine généreuse et très goûteuse. Cette auberge réussit à faire les deux ! Prix corrects, cadre très sympa et superbe accueil.
