Charming exterior with large and modern bedrooms. However the toilet and shower cubicle were the size of a telephone kiosk. Using the toilet required the door to be open because your knees are wedged against the door. We are neither particularly tall and are not overweight both of which would have been particularly challenging. There is a bath which is difficult to access because you need to climb in over the end. We eat in the bistro on two nights. The experience was like a visit to the dentist. A problem was solved (provision of calories) but it was not meant to be enjoyable. This restaurant is located almost in walking distance to the famous Chenonceau Castle. It’s an old residential building, a true “auberge” in that sense. As it has limited number of tables, it’s best to reserve in advance, it’s probable you won’t find availability if you go without a reservation. The food is amazing here: very limited menu in terms of options but each option sounds so alluring that it’s hard to make a choice. We expected better based on the reviews.The service was not gracious hospitality. The lady server acted as if she was doing us a huge favor to serve us. I ordered a glass of wine. She never asked me to taste it. She literally poured it without comment and took off. When she served the cheese she seemed irritated that we didn’t know which cheese we wanted. There was a large assortment so we just asked her to please select some for us to try. The other servers were more pleasant, but they all seemed so rushed and stressed. The menu is extremely limited. We stayed here for 2 nights and ate here the first night. The staff were amazing. The food was excellent. We would have loved a bigger menu so we could have eaten here 2 nights in a row.
