Accueil détestable... les chiens et les chats sont admis, mais pas les enfants nous avons été prévenus d'emblée par la patronne qui nous a amené des jouets pour les petits en nous prévenant qu'ils ne devaient pas bouger de leur chaise... les enfants ont été scrutés tout le long du repas, nous avons été moqués par un entourage très désagréable ( une femme s'est même rejouie que mon petit garçon de 3 ans se soit cogné la tête) ceci dans un cadre vétuste, avec des chemins de table non repasses et des coins douteux! Après une très longue attente nous avons pu déguster des viandes et poissons goûteux mais complètement gqches par des sauces très grasses et insipides contrairement au flan de champi...
A friend recommended this auberge from years ago and so pleased he did. Came for a long sunday lunch and were not disappointed. A husband and wife team with a winning formula. Chef had greeted us in the morning when making a reservation. A busy lunchtime found the wife front of house and busy. Popular with locals it's easy to see why. The menu is nicely varied with some traditional regional favourites. To say portions are generous would be an understatement, you will not leave hungry! A wine list that focusses on regional wines but with other regions making an appearance, prices are generally very moderate which makes pleasant change and perhaps reflecting the local clientele. What a nice surprise. Kristina is a fantastic, warm-hearted host. Food is ambitious, original, local, of high quality, and very good in a way that it is special, upscale but still comforting. Also the kids were very happy with their food. Wine selection isn't vast but well considered and of nice variety, and reasonably priced. Overall, we really enjoyed our evening and the whole experience, including a nice chat with the locals. This place isn't about pretention but about making people feel good. Don't miss to visit if you are in the area.
A visit down to St Jean de Losne to see my husbands mother was made wonderful with a visit with a couple of friends. The young girl serving us was so friendly and helpful and we all had great meals. We will definately be back next time we visit St Jean from England.
