We were recommended this restaurant by our hosts in Beaulieu. We decided on lunch on a beautiful autumn day. The outlook from the outdoor eating area is stunning with the river over the road and forested hills all around. This is a family restaurant which...has had 3 generations of family operation. There are a number of set price menus which allow a number of choices for each course. We decided on the 25 euro option. We started with entres of smoked salmon and a cheese,walnut, fig puff pastry dish. Mains were the Hake, duck and pork. The three desserts available were all tried..a creme brulee in chocolate and custard (provided separately), a pear dish and the flambe which served two people....
On a recent holiday to the area we decided to walk down to the Auberge du Vieux Port. We had no reservation but the helpful staff accommodated us without an issue, on the terrace at the front of the restaurant overlooking the river. The staff...were helpful and very patient with our poor language skills. The food was just amazing, every item on every plate had been prepared to deliver simply sublime taste combinations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who is dining in the area and if I find myself back there I will most certainly return but maybe I'd reserve a table first.
Whenever we are in our home in france, this is our choice for Sunday dinner. it is important to book! my favorite is the brote of the lamb on the 35euro menu. delicious! all their foods are excellent and the service can rarely be error-free. this time, as. it was a sunny but cold autumn day I ate in the interior, but there is an outside terrace it is a quiet river road. the English translation in the menu can leave something to wish, but I strongly recommend a meal here. Enjoy the Norwegian style of rolling flared in a nut liqueur sadly only for 2 or more people.
We only stayed here one night unfortunately, this is a lovely small hotel over looking the river, the owners Natalie and Pierre were excellent hosts when we arrived we were both extremely wet from the walking and it was no trouble for the, to take...our boots and dry them out ready for the next day. Our room was on the top floor and excellent overlooking the river. The menu was varied and extremely nice. Could not fault it a lovely place to stay and dine.
my wife and I ate here in the evening. the restaurant has a beautiful location at the river, but was a little old-fashioned and quiet because it was early season. we chose from the 25 Euro menu, which proved to be reasonable. worth and eating was delicious. the service was pleasant, but a bit faster than we would like. the wee we recommended was not the standard we used for this price. the pear cake dessert was delicious and the highlight of the meal.
We paid a number of visits here last year as the service is excellent and friendly, the food is good and the location is lovely. We came back again this year and would still recommend. The only reason for the 4 rather than 5 stars...is the menu doesn't appear to have changed since last year which although still good would be good if there had been a little change- apart from that still great!
Too often the food in French provincial hotels disappoints or worse....not here! 4 of us enjoyed a superb dinner. The 26€ menu was outstanding finished off with what was in effect a baked Alaska (wrong name) flambeed to perfection. Service to match the food Can't...wait to visit again next time we stay with our friends who live locally. Other reviews sum up the setting very well
we were a week in the opposite and were recommended to return this place. we booked for Sunday dinner and loved the family atmosphere and decided to return. the food was superb the 3 meal times we ate here and we were happy when they were spoken English. the bordeaux wine we ordered was great. we come back to the area in 2020 and will visit once again – perhaps more than once!
We had visited Auberge du Vieux Port some years ago and we decided to revisit to celebrate our 47th Wedding anniversery. What a good choice. The meal was superb. We chose the 26 euro menu and the 4 courses were wonderful. Each excellently presented and...delicious. The value for money compared to the normal returaunt fare was simply amazing.
