We asked our hotel for a recommendation to eat the day we arrived in Sancerre and they recommended the Pomme d'or and rang to see if we could get a table, luckily we did as it was a Monday and not many restaurants were open, perhaps mainly to do with torrential downpour we had that evening. We arrived for our 7.30pm reservation and shown to our table, our first impressions were of the waitress being a little 'off' with us, it appeared that she knew most of her clients apart from us and another table and gave these people exceptional service! We were not put off and was given a menu, there was nothing in the menu for our vegetarian friend but there made her a salad. I had the beef and it was...
blijf niet op de nouvelle place bij de brasseries hangen maar zoek dit pareltje, deze auberge op.10 tafeltjes , een korte kaart maar onberispelijke service en prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Ongekend in Belgie. Linzensalade met zalm en ham en oeuf molle. Perfect afgekruid en een tête de veau met groenten. Dessert : ananas en peren soepje, met zijn 2 sorbets. Partner : foie gras, faite maison, en lotte met groenten.Heerlijke Pouilly fumee erbij, geen sancerre (sic). Lunch menu aan 32 € !!Nog hartelijke babbel met de chef erna die komt polsen. Nee, in Belgie vindt je dit zelden. Rest van de fles mooi ingepakt meegekregen daar nog 600 km voor de boeg.
We had the pleasure to dine at Auberge laPomme d'Or. While the menu is very limited, it is because they make food that is fresh and available from the market. So the menu varies depending on what was best that day. Each course was wonderful, and the service exemplary. For the quality of the food served, the price was reasonable (it is not cheap to eat here, but it was worth every euro). Should we return to Sancerre, we will dine here again.
This little restaurant was open on a Monday which was unusual. It's is small seating about 30 people, but comfortably. The food was excellent, and beautifully presented, the menu was a little limited, but they were prepared to provide a vegetarian option for one of our party, once they understood! The wine choice was very good, but of course you're in Sancerre! Try the red!!!!
a pleasant room, an efficient service. a choice between the menu of the day, entry, dish and desert and a menu offering a choice of 3 entries, 3 courses and 3 desserts. The kitchen is neat, tasteful with seasonal products. the snail cassolette is cooked in an original way, the kidneys are beautifully prepared.

The restaurant is in the lovely old town, in a beautiful old stone building that managed to stay cooler that the street in the heatwave. It was beautifully decorated and had a great ambiance. The staff were courteous and helpful and the evening was well paced. The food was delicious.
