The evening menu here is well priced for the quality (EUR 24 for a three course dinner). There are three choices for each course, and between the three of us we sampled nearly everything available. Everything got a strong thumbs up: from the main courses my seafood risotto not only tasted wonderful but looked a picture on the plate, and the steak on the opposite side of the table looked superb, and was given a strong thumbs up. Starters were also imaginatively presented and very well created: desserts were an equal delight (my three lemon desserts were a fine contrast of sharp to sweet). The €12 lunchtime 'Menu Ouvrier' is still superb quality and unbelievably good value. Thoroughly recommended. The evening menu available from Monday to Friday is now more expensive but still good value at about €23, and is, imho, a little better quality and somewhat more satisfying than the equivalent menus on the main road across the river. It is also better value.Such a nice place and has the lowest mark up on the bottles of the local Glanes wines, which are well suited to a mid-priced AND excellent value menu. Well worth the slight detour to the medieval village of Gagnac sur Cere.It does cheapish eats superbly at lunch time and an excellent mid value evening menu on weekdays
Our host took us here for our final dinner! We were very impressed with the high standard of cooking! And a lovely warm welcome/ service from Karen. They tickled our taste buds with sweet pepper mousse, light and packed with flavour. Broccoli soup with blue cheese and walnut was divine. Thai fish cake serve with homemade chilli salsa was sensational. Beef steak so tender it melts in your mouth. White fish wrapped in jambon was divine! Dessert was an explosion of pineapple flavours served in different ways, and all the elements were delightful! Friends invited us to this favourite restaurant of theirs for an evening meal last evening, which we learn is a relatively new departure for Karen. "Very well done", we say and for goodness sake keep it going in the evenings. We are certain your "evening" reputation will spread as well, if not better, that your 'ouvrier' reputation. On the hottest evening of the year so far, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back for one of your famous 'ouvriers'. Don & April
We hired Karen to cater for our wedding party at nearby Chateau du Doux. We sampled the delicious food first at her lovely restaurant and she was incredibly generous and accommodating. On the day there was amazing food for our 70 guests and everyone complimented the chef! I would strongly recommend not only Karen's lovely restaurant but her catering skills too. For the record, we had charcuterie starters, confit duck main and delicious cheeses to finish.
This is a fantastic little find. We visited this restaurant a number of times on our recent visit to the area and always had a great meal. Great value lunch with freshly cooked food. We also went for an evening meal which was equally great and made for a lovely evening out. We would highly recommend this restaurant for great value quality food and great friendly service you will not be dissapointed, we certainly weren't. Thank you Karen we will be back !
I live in Gagnac and am thrilled that Karen and Marco have now opened the restaurant in the evenings,Monday to Friday!I have eaten twice in the last week and the food is superb,delicious and incredibly imaginative! Three courses for 23.95 is a steal!It is becoming so popular that reservations are a must in order to avoid disappointment!I wish them every success they certainly deserve it.
It is next to impossible to find a restaurant that changes its menu with any kind of frequency around here. Chants changes its evening summer menu weekly and boasts interesting and delicious dishes. Service is always with a smile and you always feel welcome. I cannot recommend the place enough. You will not be disappointed.
Karen cooked us a delicious 3 course evening meal and the chef specially adapted his recipes to accommodate my husband, who is coeliac. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
