Our waiter was great. He was super-attentive and apologetic for how little the kitchen staff care about their work. He tried. I hope he shared none of our tip with the kitchen staff. There were hardly any customers there, so being short-staffed with too many customers was not an issue. They just don't care about good food or good service. For the high prices at Axel's, the food totally sucks. My garden salad was fresh and good, but the mashed potatoes, asparagus, and coconut shrimp were terrible. The potatoes were wet not creamy, the asparagus was stringy and undercooked, and the coconut shrimp were tough and overcooked. What a disappointment. We were lucky to visit Axel's on a Sunday evening. The atmosphere, warm, inviting and thoroughly relaxing. The food, terrific...grilled asparagus and filet cooked precisely as requested. By far, The BEST part of the experience was the incredible friendly, welcoming, staff. Our every need was attended to without having to ask. I had my heart set on the amazing carrot cake for my birthday. We drove 20 mins to get this slice of goodness. Come to find out they were closed early. I ask if I could get two slices to go and they could 100% say no. Instead they said yes and I was able to have delicious carrot cake for my birthday. The service is amazing and I would 100% recommend you go. Plus, the food is incredible. I recommend the bull bites.
Fancy upscale restaurant with cloth napkins and table cloths very dark inside, dark wood furniture thankfully white floors. Will not be a good atmosphere the aged especially people with parkinson's or the beginning stages of dementia or poor eyesight. They serve mammoth popovers with maple butter. Very attentive staff delicious food. We had the walleye, generous portions, busy place attached to a Doubletree Hotel.

We went to Axel’s because we had guests from out of town. The happy hour prices were very good. We had drinks, appetizers and then a meal and everything was excellent. There was a large group beside us—they had about 14 people, so it was louder than usual, but it’s good to see places busy and people having a good time.
My sisters and I went there for the first time and it was the absolute best service I?ve ever had at a restaurant. Kathy was our server and she was the sweetest. She made sure we was doing alright and we had great conversations with her. The food was amazing as well. Definitely recommend!
Had to share my son?s experience! It was absolutely amazing! Drove an hour just to try it! The food was great! Came out hot and fresh! Saturday night and short staffed like the rest of the world and still good? Yes! Steak was tender and walleye was crisp! Definitely worth checking out!
We haven't been here in a long time! Happy to be back! Service was excellent. Nancy was really busy but checked in with us often. She paced the meal well. The food was excellent! Steak was really tender and done to perfection! The sauce with the steak was delicious! Didn't feel rushed.

Love the patio outside, really spacious! Food has great portion and service was great too.
