We were in the neighbourhood for an event and were looking for a place to have dinner. We came across Baan Raun Thai. Arrived at about 6pm on a Friday night and were the first to dine in. We ordered the duck rice paper rolls with peanut sauce as an appetizer. I had the pad thai with crispy pork belly and my partner had a chicken laksa. Across the board, everything was delicious! The duck rice paper rolls were thick and exploding with tasty ingredients. The duck was warm and the peanut sauce tasty. It was delicious. I tried my partner’s laksa and it was coconut creamy. The only downfall was he ordered it mild, but it came spicy. We were in a rush so he didn’t send it back. He still enjoyed it...
This Thai restaurant is at a suburban location (North Strathfield), but is not your average Thai. A friend travels from Eastern Sydney for their green curry. We like their mussaman lamb (not always available, and not through online order) with rotees, and actually stopped ordering this dish in other thai restaurants because they just don't get anywhere near it. The "pla rod prik" fish comes with a sauce so delicious that we take it home to use it on random home cooked meals, it makes us feel like good chefs. The service is friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is nice while the prices are pretty decent.
If you want authentic Thai then this is one of the best restaurants in Sydney. Large crunchy prawns, authentic entrees not always found in other Thai restaurants and delicate sweets including my favourite mango and sticky rice. Great Southern Thai cuisine. Many very hot dishes but they do cater for those who don't like it too hot like myself. Great staff and very friendly service. If you are lucky one of the waitresses has a little 3 year old who sometimes like to take the orders. Absolutely adorable. A real family restaurant.
6 hungry adults wanting a decent feed! Ended up menu-logging a meal to our apartment. Delivery took a little too long however was quickly forgotten due to the awesome quality of food! Their Pad Thai is super yummy! Curries were amazing! Both Green and Massaman. They unfortunately didn't offer coconut rice - jasmine did the trick tho! Unsure of the dine in aspect of the restaurant but, with the quality of food. Worth the visit!

Ate here with a group of four this weekend. Service was friendly and efficient. King prawn spring rolls was something I hadn't tried before and delicious. Nice old style home setting. Not the best Thai we've have but a runner up for Sydney. Easy to get to from the m4 and we found parking on a nearby Street. Reasonably priced. Bill came to $110 for four adults.
At Baan Raun Thai, its not about the location, the decor or the seating space! Its all about serving quality food to share with family and friends. Fresh and tasty with emphasis on tickling your taste buds.
I have been going here over 7 years, we go at least twice a month and it never lets us down. Food is delivered quickly (we do pre-order) Taste is great, I love the Chilli Basil Chicken with Boiled Rice
Great food. None of the watered down rubbish that u see in many Thai take aways. Great, real food, great sauces, plenty of flavour. Loved it. Helps that staff are really nice too.
