Our first experience with Georgian cuisine and we were pleasantly surprised by an interesting mix of Eastern Europe and Mediterranean influence. We decided to order a sample across the menu and share so we could all experience different dishes and it worked out great. We started with Megruli (a wonderful cheesy flat round bread), Tolma (think dolmades but with a more mild flavor), and Potato Khinkali (table favorite somewhere between gnocchi and pierogi in a amazing creamy onion sauce). For the main we shared a Tabaka Platter (grilled Cornish hen), chicken and lamb Lula Kebabs, Salmon Mtsvadi, and mushroom Ojakhuri (highly recommended). We were greeted with a warm welcome. I asked for recommendations for dinner since I had never had this type of food before. I had lamb stew which was AMAZING. I am not exaggerating. The fresh flavor of the herbs and tender meat made this dish extraordinary. Delicious broth and warm bread to dip in it. So good. Others in my party were equally pleased with their dinner. Service was great. Everything is very clean. The overall vibe seemed to be comfortable, and yet a little elevated at the same time. We will definitely return to Badageoni.
First time finally trying this restaurant, and we will be back to try everything else on the menu! A perfect dining experience with good wine, food, service, and ambiance. No complaints at all. Highly recommend you go outside your comfort zone and trythis comfort food.
