My mother had a visit at the Kaiser facility in Martinez, and afterwards, we decided to grab breakfast. I remembered a nearby bagel shop where I had eaten many years ago, and after looking it up on Google, I found out it was the same place. I ordered a bagel with egg and bacon, and I also picked up some bagel schmear for the rest of the family. It was a bit late for breakfast—almost 10 a.m.—so the selection of bagels was somewhat limited. I assume they offer a wider variety for lunch, as they make sandwiches and use bagels for those. It seems like a reviewer judged Bagel Street Café solely based on its door, which is an odd way to evaluate a place. It's impressive how some people can be so unreasonable when reviewing local spots. Bagel Street Café is actually fantastic! They often sell out of bagels before closing time, a testament to their quality. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and it's a local business that's been around for a long time. I'll gladly overlook the old door for a delicious bagel any day!
I've worked in customer service for many years, and I was truly impressed by the speed, efficiency, preparation skills, and hospitality I experienced today. I’m not sure how long Waylin (I hope I spelled that correctly) has been with the restaurant or what his role is, but I urge everyone to appreciate him. People like him are the backbone of businesses in the US. I would give him 15 out of 5 stars if I could! I even ran back in just to get his name.
As for the Veggie Deluxe bagel, it was completely flavorless; the bagel, the veggies, and the cream cheese were all bland! I'm not sure if they’ve recently changed owners, but I can say for certain that the prices have increased and the quality has dropped significantly. What a disappointment! We used to love having this gem in our town, but it no longer deserves to be here.

*UPDATE* Seems theyve finally started taking credit cards. But they've increased prices pretty dramatically in the last year or two as well. While it's somewhat endearing that Bagel Street only takes cash, it is a hassle sometimes. Yet it's still packed every morning. They do run out of the good bagels occasionally around 10-11am, but everything they make is delicious.
I used to come here every week as a kid and I haven’t lived in the area for 13 years, but I came back to visit my parents and HAD to check in on my favorite cafe! It is EXACTLY how I remember it and has the same neighborhood vibe. The service is fast and friendly and the food is great! I really missed this place! So happy to see it’s still here!
An urban jewel. Consistently good. I always get the bacon, eggs and cheese on an onion bag or a whole bagel when the onion is sold out. I love how the bacon remains crispy. A nice little family-bagell shop with hardworking people. Sometimes I want to stop here, but I don't have money, so don't forget that you're all they accept.
I stayed at the Best Western across the street and loved it so much that I had to go back twice. You really can't go wrong with any of the bagel sandwiches here! They also accept credit cards.
