I don't believe that the reviews posted for this restaurant reflect what they are now serving. The photos of the dishes that John H. posted are no longer on the menu. They are not offering what most people come to expect from a Chinese restaurant…battered, deep fried dishes with sauces and traditional stir-frys. My wife and I went for lunch to see what they had to offer. The menu is different and limited. We had the fried fish with mango sauce from the appetizer section, which contains 13 items with nothing costing more than $4.50. One Sentence: NEVER AGAIN.Family of four, we walked into the Bamboo Garden expecting some good, generous amount of chinese/thai food. Obviously not. We ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken which was $14 and had 10 pieces of tiny chicken bits. Also ordered Veggie Beef for $15 which had 5 pieces of beef which were rubbery. When I had dinner here, the first time, I was pleasantly surprised with the more unfamiliar but classic Cantonese and Sichuan dishes one doesn't find in Parksville.The fact that the kitchen prepares a braised tripe dish and a beef lung dish, as well as the main stay items , indicates that there is an Asian following worth catering to. After the decent reviews, we ordered a dinner for 3The chicken chow mein was covered in strips of chicken luncheon meat?! The flavour was bland, at best. The sweet and sour pork was ok, however, the sauce spilled on our counter and the red food dye stained it brought red. The prawns were cooked well but were flavourless and not one of us ate our spring rolls after one person squeezed/wrung theirs out to reveal a plate full of grease. Rate 0. We are visiting from Calgary and ordered delivery from this place. The food overall was excellent, the service was friendly, but what really stood out was the salt and pepper squid. Spicy as heck, but hands down the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend Bamboo Garden to anyone!
The meal was tasteless, decor could use updates, food was slopped all over the Buffet wagon. Place pretty well empty except for 6 commercial fishermen.. Not going to return.. Very disappointed..
