This place is a little hidden gem. The building is pretty worn down, but it has its charm. I used to really enjoy their lunch buffet, but they haven’t brought it back since the pandemic. During my visit in the summer of 2022, I tried the seafood soup and some larva (see photos). Both were excellent, though I think they could have included more salad ingredients. The spice level can vary, so it's important to discuss how spicy you want your meal when ordering. I tried their standard spice option but I'm not sure I'll go that route again; next time, I’ll ask for a side of fresh Sriracha and fish sauce. If you're looking for an authentic experience, you might be disappointed. I've been dining at this restaurant for over 20 years and typically order Larb and/or Nomtok. After noticing that the food was not up to par, I politely informed the owner. I even returned two days in a row, hoping for an improvement. However, the owner's response was disheartening: if I didn’t like the food, I should dine elsewhere. This prompted me to write this review. If you're seeking truly good, authentic Thai food, I recommend Thai from Waugh Chapel or Bangkok Gardens instead. It's really unfortunate to see such a decline in service.
I've been here for over 10 years. Unfortunately, prices have risen enormously and food is not the same. The family feels that the restaurant went earlier. The owner (or the man who looks like the owner) does not speak or welcome you. In addition, they made a mistake and left the coconut cream sauce and torn seeds from Thai sweet sticky rice. I was home when I noticed. I called the restaurant to notify her of the mistake, and they told me to drive back to get it. No apology or service recovery, i.e. free dessert offered at the next visit. I will drive Furthur for better service and lower prices instead.
I placed my order over the phone for shrimp fried rice. When I arrived to pick it up, they told me it would be $18, which I thought was quite steep. I've never encountered a shrimp fried rice dish priced that high. When I finally received my order, I noticed the bowl was small, and there were only five shrimp in it. While the food did taste good, it felt overpriced, and I definitely didn't get my money's worth. Just tried this place for the first time yesterday and will definitely order again. The chicken Thai fried rice and pad thai (no peanuts) were delicious as well as the chicken satay, spring rolls, and tiger cried. My only complaint is the size of the beef in the tiger cried, they were really small for the price and we only received 4 instead of the 6 we were supposed to get. Although very tasty, I would not order again for the price.
I?ve had my fair share of Pad Thai and the one I ordered from this place did not taste like Pad Thai at all. I ordered chicken Pad Thai and it seem to have pieces of pork in it, which really confused me. I also ordered Spring Rolls which left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. I don?t think I will come back but I would say it?s worth a try to generate your own opinion.
Very good and flavorful authentic Thai fare in the middle of nowhere that far exceeded my expectation. A bit pricier than usual but it is worth it. Watch out for the spice level as they get to Thai spicy level 1 is already a bit spicy.
