The Portland St location was walkable from our hotel on King and research indicated food would be good. Well it totally was! Our family of 4 ordered a number of dishes to share - we'd have ordered more if we'd had more room in our bellies. My fav dish was the zucchini blossoms but all dishes were really wonderful with an array of flavours and textures. The atmosphere was simple, clean and elegant. The wait staff and the manager were attentive. The bartender was less congenial - I don't think she talks to customers much given how its set up - and less then helpful when I was pondering trying something new. But aside from that, it was a hit and we were glad we went.
If this had been my first time here, it also would have been my last. I have always been a huge fan of the three Buca restaurants, since each opened. Two consecutive lacklustre evenings at Bar Buca prompted this review. A slow Tuesday evening should have resulted in attentive, not disinterested, service. Empty wine glasses and plates not cleared. Requests for more drinks forgotten until repeated. A manager that had an ability to ignore everything not happening around him. If it wasn't for the great menu and my previous experience, I wouldn't bother returning. However, I can't at this time recommend Bar Buca. Thank you Lorenzo.
Sometimes it's stressful trying to find a decent place to have a good meal thats not insanely over priced, not loud enough that you have to scream your conversation with friends visiting the city for the first time. This restaurant offered the perfect balance and atmosphere at night that was lively and energetic without overbearing lounge music. Food is fantastic, tapas are great - i HIGHLY recommend the burrata.
Found this little restaurant and bar by chance with my husband. We were looking for something to eat not too big and a place nice but not to formal and found this nice Italian place. Food is very tasty and service was excellent. Nice tall chairs and table and decorated with wine bottles. Plates are small but perfect if you are not to hungry or you want to share and try few things.
A few things were quite good: meatballs and the testa but the cauliflower carbonara, the baby octopus skewer and the brussels sprout and lardo skewers were all screaming for some balance and acidity...super one note...did the chef change? The service was friendly and unintrusive. Was a nice experience but wouldnt return for food. And i really wanted to like it.
Popped in here for lunch. Had the mozzarella it was delicious. Porcetta sandwich was huge, Angel hair pasta very filling. This is a great place for lunch but also a lively bar for dinner and drinks.
Charming place in the bustling King street area. Whether you want a quick espresso or and tasty meal, Bar Buca is it. Really enjoyed the service and ambiance and the food is spot on.
It's a hidden gem! I went for breakfast on Saturday with my boyfriend and we both like the food and the service! People are very helpful and nice and the food... is just amazing :)
You can't go wrong. We had a great time with great food. Tons of flavor and just the right amount. The staff was great very helpful and their suggestions were great
