Went with my wife and daughter to sit out one of their empty tables outside so we could dine and order drinks near the temple. The waiter came running out of the restaurant shouting that the table is reserved. Okay, since it was the only...table, we went over to the next restaurant, also near the temple, and ate there. The entire hour+ that we sat at the other restaurant, no one sat at the table we tried to sit at. So, rudely and for no reason, that waiter told us we couldn't sit there. We took our money elsewhere and so should you.
This popular bar/bistro is right next to the Roman Temple of Livia, one of Vienne's most popular tourist attractions. You really need to book as its no-nonsense, efficiently served lunchtime food is very popular with local office workers. We had tarte salée (with lardons and...goat's cheese), steak chips followed by a very good crème brûlée; all washed down with decent house wine. Alternatively, you can avoid the lunchtime rush and while away the afternoon with a good beer (try the Affligem) and watch the world go by.
We tried this busy restaurant on a lovely sunny day and enjoyed perfect salade Lyonnaise. Excellent and would have gone back for dinner if we had been staying longer. Great view of the temple but we had to sit inside as all the outside tables...were taken or reserved which says something in itself. Pleasant, laid back atmosphere with great service and English spoken.
I stop here for a small drink and to people watch, the service is good, and the scenery great. for it's location the drinks are not too expensive. I always have a Gallipan. Not sure if I've spelt this correctly, but it's pronounced like that....It's only a small beer, but during the day this is ample, and it's what the locals drink

We stopped here and shared a bottle of wine with other couples on our river cruise. Very beautiful location right at steps of the roman temple of Augustus Livia we were in fabulous company w friends and beautiful scenery! A great memory of...our vacation
small very friendly restaurant located right in front of the temple of august and drunk to come. the site is superb, the reception at the top, and the dishes are really good. I recommend without hesitation!
how not to be tempted to eat on the terrace with views of the Roman temple. Besides, the kitchen is good. simple card but everything is good at a more than reasonable price.
Beautiful Vienne! Lunch at the Bar du Temple is a treat not to be missed! Visit and enjoy the ambiance, great food and friendly staff
