We hoped to enjoy a nice culinary experience in Colmar. Unfortunately the waiter who was supposed to take care of us started with a very rude joke, when we asked for an English menu, saying there was none and he can translate but not all the menu! He was so sarcastic and made us even consider leaving at first moment. Then he continued his rudeness all night; when we asked for our wine to be put in a caraf bringing it with such a humiliating face, telling us the kitchen was closed while other tables were still being served, so we couldn't even have a main course. But just to test we asked another waiter to bring us French fries and she kindly brought it, etc..This service level is unacceptabl...
That title may not attract many people, but those who don't eat red meat and pork often have to make difficult choices in Alsace. Yes, this restaurant has all of that Alsatian cuisine but also a good selection of salads, veggies, and fish. I had a fabulous dorade on a bed of vegetables, and my wife had a seafood salad of crevettes, scallops, shrimp, and smoked salmon. There was a good selection of wines from nearby vineyards. Server staff were helpful and attentive. We liked sitting outside on the patio on a warm evening. We tried to return but they were closed on Sundays.
Without doubt, Colmar is a gem if you travel in/through Alsace. The Isenheim Altarpiece by Grünewald in the Unterlinden Museum is a sight you cannot miss. But it will definitely take a good two hours, so there is a fair chance that you might get hungry. To ease that, Bartholdi is just a short walk from the museum, and offers delicious Alsacien dishes. We had quiche, choucroute and sorbet, all this with a pleasant pinot and a service saw flawless that I cannot even remember details.
Yet another first rate traditional Alsatian restaurant in central Colmar. Excellent food and VERY substantial portions - my son and I both had the Civet de Biche and not only was the initial serving quite substantial but we were offered a top-up. Friendly service, good local wine - what more cold you ask! We booked, but I'm not sure whether this was essential on the night we were there (mid week a few days before Christmas). Still better safe than sorry!

From Switzerland back to Belgium, we stopped for lunch in the old city of Colmar and selected this Alsatian restaurant as we were looking for something traditional, authentic, local cuisine. We were pleased with the food and the service. Our waiter was a very well experienced old-skool server. Many dishes are still served from the warm gueridon like during old time. Portions are big with some dishes even served with refill (rognons)
We were there as a family. Our kids got a good menu, not just the standard fried chicken with french fries. We enjoyed the friendly service, the very good meal(s). The menu card is rich, the wines are a lot. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is pleasant. And because it all was good, we did as we always do: We returned the next day and we will again when we visit Colmar the next time.
I had dinner at this restaurant after reading the reviews on this site . I have to say it was a disappointment, the portion were huge ,the presentation was canteen style and the food lacks imagination . This is France and food is an art . Mind you this was not a cheap place .
My wife and I stayed in the beautiful city of Colmar for four days this November. We had an excellent dinning experience at the Bartholdi Restaurant. The service, meal and atmosphere were outstanding.

Cosy restaurant in Colmar. Everything we ate was delicious especially the asparagus. The staff was very helpfull I hardly recommend this restaurant when you visit Colmar
Traditional French restaurant. Good dishes (French and Alsatian), adequate service. Prices reasonable for this quality.
