Food is excellent as described Tex mex comfort food! Had a nice conversation with the owner while we ate at the bar, such a nice guy and very welcoming. I’m originally from Texas and this is the first time I’ve had legit Tex mex breakfast tacos outside of Texas. Definitely recommend the masa waffles and drop biscuits as well and the coffee is A+! Can’t recommend enough!!
We visited Basalt for the first time for brunch with a guest from out of town, and the first thing my wife said afterwards was how happy she was at the atmosphere! Calm, safe, and friendly our server joked a bit and really made us feel at home.Thanks for making it a great experience, we'll be sure to be back and try more of the dishes next time ?
Without a doubt, my favorite brunch spot in town is Basalt. If you haven't been there yet, you're truly missing out. Every item on the menu is fantastic! I could enjoy the carnitas tacos every day for the rest of my life. The owner is incredibly kind, and this warmth is reflected in the friendly service of the staff.
When I tell you I’m obsessed, I’m not joking. Anytime someone even mentions basalt, I need it asap! Staff is so friendly and we love a safe place for queer folks in the city. The brunch was absolutely fantastic; I can hardly put it into words! Every aspect of our meal was outstanding. The service was excellent (Maggie was a lot of fun), the food came out quickly, and the prices were reasonable! I can't wait to return and try their other brunch offerings!
The Texas Hammer is the best breakfast sandwich (and possibly largest? currently available in Grand Rapids trust me, I'm an expert. Adding a hash brown should be mandatory, but I don't make the rules! Just know that if you don't, you're not doing it right.
This restaurant impressed both my girlfriend and me! The food was outstanding and ideal for our vegetarian diets. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. We will certainly return!
