This tiny store front is really intended to be a pick up location rather than a sit down restaurant. There is some seating, but only for a maximum of 12 inside. Their specialty is their fried chicken and waffles. I loved their chicken, with its very southern, deliciously seasoned cornmeal crust. It made the pieces come out quite juicy and flavorful, and had a great crunch. I only wish they were full pieces, not 4 smaller but plump, wing parts. The waffle was not my favorite. I prefer a crisp crust. This one was spongy made from a relatively bland batter. But they did serve it with real butter, and butter goes a long ways to improving the shortcomings. Where are the Soul Food spots in SGV vicinity??? A friend drove in from Palm Springs and we were looking for a soul food spot without having to go to LA and had to settle on BB's Cafe in Covina. I tried their food years ago and was somewhat disappointed so I never went back til today. So I'm thinking, they're still in business, maybe they got better...NOT!! BB, the owner, and DJ, her amazing employee, run a lovely boutique spot right in central downtown. Wanted to give BB's Cafe a try since it is highly reviewed, but perhaps we went on an off day. Pan Fried Catfish $15.95): ~3 pieces of thin crispy catfish served alongside fries and two sides of your choice; we opted for the fried okra and collard greens. This dish was a miss for us all as the catfish had the very strong distinct fish flavor and we couldn't eat too much of it. Chicken Waffles $12.95): Probably the best item on the menu a whole waffle served alongside 3 pieces of juicy tender chicken. Maple syrup and butter on the side for the waffles. I saw someone post about the breakfast burritos on Facebook on Monday and sent my husband to get the breakfast burrito with pulled pork on Tuesday and its delicious, the salsa that comes om the side was also so flavorful! The burrito had a smoky flavor and I am still day dreaming about it! It was so good in fact that I sent my hubby back the very next day to get the breakfast burrito with hot links, mmmm mmmmm GOOD! Delicious! Our family of ten, visiting from out of state, chose BB's Cafe for breakfast, and we all left completely stuffed and ready for a nap. From the youngest at 3 years old to grandma, everyone enjoyed their meal without any complaints. Michelle was incredibly nice and welcoming, making us feel just like family. Although the seating is limited, that’s what takeout is for, right? The waffles, catfish, and breakfast burritos were all fantastic, and the sides were delicious as well! Thank you, Mama and Michelle, for starting our day with big smiles and full bellies. I loved every moment!

Great restaurant in a large strip mall of sorts anchored by a Vons. The restaurant itself is on a corner, and at least on a Sunday at noon, is the only establishment visibly open with a small crowd waiting outside. Once you put your name down, you wait around, but not for too long, and there are seats inside as well as a small strip of tables outside. The service is prompt, professional, and friendly. The menu is a QR code, and coffee is brought promptly and filled regular. I always get the classic Eggs Benedict, which is always solid.
