Located at 234 Nepean Highway in Edithvale, Beach Side Fish Chips (formerly known as Flakey Jakes and Hot Spot Fish N Chips) is definitely in a league of its own. Despite having to wait a considerable amount of time on Christmas Eve, the amazing fish and chips were well worth it. The quality of the food was some of the best we have ever had, and it seemed like everyone else in the restaurant that night felt the same way. The owner, although quiet and unassuming, is a perfectionist when it comes to his fish and chips, making sure that every bite is absolutely delicious. yep, had to wait a good long while... but hey, we could 'na cared less it was late chrissy eve, he was s 'posed to 'av closed hours before and those amazin ' fish chips were just about somewhere around some of the best we 've ever...had so worth the wait... almost everyone else in there, that night, kinda thought the same you could see it on their faces... would buy again, from him, any time of day, any day of the week he doesn 't rush, doesn 't get rattled, doesn 't say much, but he 's a perfectionist no doubt about that.. definitely in the league with the best... visited for take-away late dinner, on the night of thursday 24 december 2015, enroute to mount martha for a christmas long weeke...
this is of importance, as most pre-location fish and chip shops close for assembly. this offers fish, chips, burger and souvlakia. it even offers a vegie burger and a vegie souvlaki. the shop is very large in the interior with a series of tables they were able to immerse, as well as some seats / tables at the parking lot. it is located near the beach and near beeson reserve if you want to make a picnic. I had a great grilled flock at a very resonable price. it was fresh, thick and very good value for money. it had only a little too much oil for a grilled sort.
yesterday my brother and I bought lunch in this restaurant. it is to our favorite place for dishes with the way to and from the half island. without question, the best inexpensive, hamburger, fish and chips etc. and the most friendly staff. in perhaps the cleanest restaurant for miles. much faster eating, worth for money, service and staff than maccas or the many other chains. do not take our word for it. you will not regret it.

Located just steps away from Edithvale Beach, we ordered the Blue Grenadier Pack along with some extra chips and potato cakes. The portions were generous and everything was wonderfully crispy. The shop also offers delicious Vietnamese iced coffee. We highly recommend trying the tartare sauce with the fish, and the calamari rings were fresh with a crispy batter that we really enjoyed.

I had great hopes for this restaurant as the location was beautiful. but eating was just terrible. greasy chips, potato cake and greasiest all calamari! so disappointing! service very average. will not be back!
Delicious fish and chips! The restaurant itself is average, but it's conveniently located near the beach. The fish and chips were a bit oily, but the dim sims were fantastic!
