As a family recently returned from Texas, where we enjoyed some of the best BBQ, we were excited to continue our culinary journey. Unfortunately, this restaurant did not meet our expectations for Texas BBQ. My tri-tip was sliced too thin—almost sashimi-style—and covered in BBQ sauce, which I find unappealing. My second choice, the hot links, were just a large serving of cheap meat swimming in sauce. The side dishes were extremely basic and lacked any innovation. In Texas, even coleslaw can be elevated with unique ingredients like green chile mac and cheese or serrano-glazed Brussels sprouts. I have been a loyal customer at their previous location and enjoyed several great meals there. However, my experience at the new location fell short of my expectations; it seems they are still going through some growing pains. The meat was greasy and lacked flavor, while the side dishes were inconsistent. The beans and potato salad were decent, but the mac and cheese was overcooked and not creamy at all. The coleslaw was particularly disappointing, having an overpowering vinegar taste. The brisket consisted of well-done end cuts, and the ribs were dry, without any sauce provided. My wife and I were having a weekend away and were craving some BBQ. This place definitely met our expectations and blew them out of the water! Between us, we had the tri tip, brisket, and rib tips, as well as mac n cheese, cornbread, potato salad, and collard greens. Everything was incredibly flavorful, and the serving sizes were more than adequate to allow us to be full (and to have a little bit extra to take home with us). When we arrived, there were only a few patrons present, and we were seated right away. Service was prompt and attentive, and everything was ready for us in a very timely manner. We will definitely return for some delicious barbecue the next time we're here!
We visited this restaurant as a family of four for dinner. Two of us ordered the twice-baked potato plate with tri-tip, but the meat was very chewy and far from tender. The food was served lukewarm, and we had to send it back to be reheated. Another family member chose the three-meat plate, but they found the ribs and brisket to be tough and definitely not slow-cooked. The hot link and pulled pork were acceptable, but overall, it fell short of expectations. As visitors from Texas, we were hoping for some good mesquite-smoked barbecue, but this didn't quite deliver. Do yourself a favor and get over to Beale's! Two brothers have done you a huge culinary favor and brought Texas mesquite barbecue to Southern California. Do you like dining on the water with beautiful harbor views? Check. Do you like savory brisket and hearty BBQ beans? Nailed it. Do you enjoy slow smoked ribs meaty and tender with sauce made the old fashioned way? Boom, got it. How about some succulent pulled pork and potato salad? Slap yo' mama good. Finish it off with peach cobbler or banana pudding and you know you've had something special. Plus full bar and the best service around, you're welcome.
this was my second visit here, this time a group of 7. most of us ordered the Brisket sandwich, one got the brisket plate. I thought it was okay. the sandwiches had a lot of meat on them, but it was hardly luke warm. Macn cheese was delicious, but the noodles were over cooked. it also needed salt pepper, but there were none on the table. the Bbq beans were spicy, but very sweet. I didn't like her. the huged greens were amazing. She said she'd come back, just for her! the potato salad was good, but not my favorite. pleasant atmosphere, friendly service, but a bit expensive for just good eating.

The hot link was somewhat decent, reminiscent of what you’d find at a roadside diner. As Texans, we were let down that it wasn’t mesquite smoked. Additionally, there was no children's menu available.
On a positive note, the brisket was cooked well and had some flavorful end cuts. However, the slices were dry, and no sauce was offered. The brisket sandwich was both fatty and tough, making it hard to eat without a fork, particularly after I added my own Jack Daniel’s barbecue sauce. Great food and service. I got the pulled pork, cornbread and spicy ranch beans. Wife got the pulled pork sandwich and mac and cheese. Everything had amazing flavor and the service was on point.
