since they were obviously very short employees, the working people have made a great task to please everyone, from the reception to the dining room staff. we have booked with groupon. £135 for a standard room, 2 meals with a bottle of wine plus breakfast. the room was great with an amazing comfortable bed, tea and coffee as well as old fashion bathroom. dinner had a big choice, breakfast as much as they wanted. for this price, you really couldn't owe it. the inner of the castle is amazing and chew around the ground. After dinner we really recovered with a drink around the open fire where we met another local couple that was really friendly. the castle is located in a very picturesque old tow...
Our tour group leader frequently uses this hotel for his guided tours of the region, and all our meals took place here. The food was quite enjoyable. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options to cater to nearly every palate, styled in a British fashion, yet still very satisfying overall. Our dinners were exceptional. Rhianne, the Chief Steward, was usually on duty and demonstrated a thorough understanding of food preparation. She never hesitated to recommend the best dishes, including excellent Welsh cheese options on the cheese platter. The fish dinners were particularly outstanding!
Just returned from a weekend stay in the castle and it was lovely. The place is 800 years old and full of character, really nice and set in some lovely grounds with beautiful views and peacocks wandering around. Lockdown very nearly was the end of things for them and as such there are fewer staff than normal but despite the staff being extremely busy they were kind and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant was excellent and the food first rate. We were really pleased and would return.
I enjoyed a brief stay at the restaurant. The building was impressive, and the room was quite spacious. The package included an evening meal, which was a pleasant surprise. I had the pork, and it was cooked to perfection—I highly recommend this dish. The peacocks on the grounds were very friendly, adding to the charming atmosphere. The room was spacious, featuring a beautiful large bed with soft white towels and linens. The pillows were very comfortable, making for a restful stay. Breakfast was simple yet delightful. The views are fantastic, with lovely peaches and playful rabbits, all set in a great location. However, the rooms could benefit from a fresh coat of paint or new carpeting, though I understand this might raise the price. Overall, I would definitely come back!
Nice venue Sadly the afternoon tea was disappointing very long wait not overly busy so no real excuse, staff kept forgetting things then not bringing them at all. We gave up left half way through as we got fed up of waiting for the items missing from our order. They would have got 2 stars but gave 1 extra for the helpful staff member when we arrived. My wife I had a lovely 3 course meal in the restaurant yesterday. We can honestly say it was one of if not the nicest meals we've ever had. We had the asparagus egg tempura prawn starters, hake and spaghetti stacked burger mains and the strawberry mousse sticky toffee pudding washed down with a glass of wine. Each course was perfectly cooked, staff lovely and surroundings wonderful. Couldn't fault it, excellent!
The only minor downside for us was that we found the breakfast a bit too greasy for our taste, although it seemed to be well-received by others. Additionally, it would be helpful to have some vegetarian sausages available. We also think having a couple of tea bags and extra toilet paper in the room would be a nice touch. What a thoroughly enjoyable visit. It was wonderful to be able to wander both inside and out. Lovely outdoor seating areas, with the added attraction of all the peacocks. We had a full afternoon tea which was very enjoyable. Staff lovely and friendly. Plenty of parking.
