The Beef Pares Silog earned a solid 5/5. I can certainly see why this dish is so popular! The garlic rice was aromatic and generously flavored with garlic, which I found delightful. The crispy fried garlic added an enticing aroma that enhanced the dish. The fried egg was cooked perfectly, with the oozing yolk creating a creamy texture that complemented the rice. It provided extra "sauce" without being too salty. The beef was tender, consisting of small chunks marinated in a flavorful sauce that balanced soy sauce and sweetness without being overpowering. I decided to give this place another try because I really enjoyed the food I had a couple of years ago. However, when I visited recently for the hot table, the staff didn't acknowledge the line of customers waiting, which included about eight others in front of me. The staff seemed disorganized—one lady was taking orders while also preparing food for dine-in customers. They might have been short-staffed. The food was just okay (I had the Palabok). I noticed someone from the kitchen pacing in the back and wandering in and out without offering any help to the lady at the front.
The kamayan boxes offer good value, but the flavors fell short. The garlic rice was delicious, but the chicken could have benefited from a better balance of seasoning and was somewhat tough. The fried tilapia and stuffed boneless milkfish were just average and quite bland. However, there is plenty of protein in the boxes! Just a heads up: the seafood options no longer include squid, shrimp, and other items shown in earlier pictures.
I would give the cashier zero stars. She was really unfriendly! This is how she asked me: “What else?” And when she handed me my receipt, it was just a brusque, “Here!” Come on, be nice; we’re bringing you business! I absolutely love the ambiance of this restaurant. Since it opened, it has become our go-to spot for Filipino food to satisfy our cravings. My favorite dishes are the palabok and dinuguan. I also really enjoy their buko pandan; it’s not too sweet, which makes you want to keep eating more.
Kid-friendliness: There are no high chairs available. Parking: Parking is limited, as the restaurant shares space with other businesses in the plaza. Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair accessibility.
This is the best spot for halo-halo and a comforting taste of Filipino cuisine. I recommend trying the sago gulaman drink; both are incredibly refreshing. The food is excellent as well—definitely go for the garlic fried rice!
