So, as a Biggie fan I was keen to try Big Poppa's, but left feeling underwhelmed by the whole experience.To start, my girlfriend and I went downstairs, to a low lit bar with a few tables and leather booths. We asked the bar tender for a red wine recommendation and his only reply was to recommend the wine that was "easy to smash". With Sydney notorious for its lack of anywhere to eat after 10pm, Big Poppa's Bar and Restaurant fills that gap superbly being open 5pm to 3am every day. Having been to a nearby theatre, we happened on this amazing place after trying several other establishments (sorry kitchen closed!!). Big Poppa’s in on two levels – the upper level is the restaurant, we chose downstairs Bar for supper. Heaps of people and noisy, this Bar was hopping at 10:30 on a Friday night. Review is entirely due to the bartender service downstairs. Went on a Tuesday night when it wasn't busy at all (maybe 8 people total downstairs?) and it took about 15 minutes standing at the bar to get a bartender to take our order. There were 2 bartenders and only 2 other people at the bar. I tried to be courteous while they were occupied with a chatty customer, but there was zero acknowledgement and after helping that customer one of the bartenders just left without saying anything. Even the most basic customer service and/or attentiveness would have fixed the problem ("sorry for the wait", "I'll be with you in a second" etc.) I'd comment on the food and drinks, but service is fundamental...
Lots of hype built up to this place ! At the end of the day , the food was really average and so was the service !! Nothing to write home about , was really expensive for what we received , could get the same at vacanza with much better service !!!

I love this place.. great vibes, delicious food, friendly staff, and the food is so badly on point!
The blue cheese and fig salad was perfectly balanced, the blue cheese wasn't too overpowering.
The veal ribs were so tender and perfect!
Awesome cocktails (of course! ...from ex-Baxter). And the food is so delicious. Their focus on cheese is a winner in my books. It gets busy and the atmosphere is great. I'll be back for sure!!!
What an amazing night these guys hosted for my birthday. Service from Dominique was phenomenal from start to finish, and I'll be dreaming about the lamb ragu until I return. Thank you!!
