I've been to Bistro 45 a handful of times over the years. I'd consider it a treat for a special occasion or a nice evening out. Typically a 5-star meal and matching service. I really value that the chef uses fresh, organic ingredients in their dishes. Recently, we were celebrating a birthday and came to Bistro 45. First, I want to acknowledge that the food quality and our waiter’s service were good. However, we had a strange encounter with a staff member that made us all uncomfortable and ruined our overall experience. Our waiter was busy, so an individual, who we think may have been the manager, took our order. First we ordered a shared appetizer for the table. One of our party chose to order one of the five 14” pizzas that they offer on the menu as their entree. We had an excellent experience at Bistro 45. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Pasadena, but bistro 45 has an upscale atmosphere that feels intimate. The food presentation and taste is more than satisfying, it's pleasantly surprising. Even better is the attentive and kind service experience, not just to our table, but witnessed throughout the restaurant. I would give it 5 stars if I could. I have been here many times this year also and dozens of times over the last few years. The food is AMAZING! No one is ever disappointed with the food. Unlike other fine dining/steakhouses they remember the vegetarians! Always multiple Vegan/vegetarian options, The staff is knowledgeable. Service is impeccable. This is a gem! The food was absolutely next level amazing. The quality of the ingredients is undeniably top notch and locally sourced. This is a family owned business. We talked to Robert, the owner on the phone to make our reservation. Our server was the son of the owner as well as Tamara. I know they treat staff well because Jose told us he’s been there for 34 years. Must be a great family. I the hanger steak and it was potentially the best steak I’ve ever had. I had a wonderful dinner at Bistro 45 on Saturday. Following a starter of Little Gems salad I enjoyed the rack of lamb. The lamb was perfectly cooked and deliciously flavorful, nicely complemented by a colorful medley of vegetables and accompanied by a fine glass of Burgundy. For desert I had the extremely decadent Chocolate Soup and a Chamomile tea. Bistro 45 is notable not just for its fine food and excellent wines, but also due to the quality of service, comfort and friendliness. William is the best! Because of the excellent service he has provided : But honestly everything about this place was awesome. The atmosphere is very cozy, the service is very attentive and fast. The food was delicious, we enjoyed every bite. Try their cocktails, they won't disappoint and the prices are on the lower side considering the level of food and service. Average $90 per person. The food wasn't that great except for the wine the friendly waiters. I ordered Seared Hudson Valley Magret Duck Breast. It was a mistake the duck meat tasted like from the freezer storage plus they added sweet blackberry jam was too sweet. If you have a chance to go to the French restaurant in Trocadéro Café Kléber try their Magret de canard Duck breast, c'est magnifique!
