The risotto was poorly prepared—dry and clumped together—with cold, undercooked, and unseasoned asparagus on top. Out of the three scallops I received, only one was cooked properly; one was significantly undercooked, showing no signs of grill marks on either side. All the scallops were lacking in salt and flavor. While the mushroom soup was quite delicious, it was unfortunately too salty. For over 15 years, Cafe Lily has been our local go to restaurant in City of Decatur to celebrate special occasions. I’m sad to say that’s no longer the case. I don’t know if management has changed, but It hasn’t been the same the last few visits and last night was the final straw. The half portion options for pasta dishes are no longer offered, and the serving of the much loved grilled bread was skimpy compared to before. Last weekend, we returned to town to help our son move back to Maryland, and we eagerly anticipated one last dinner at our beloved spot. We both ordered the specials: mahi mahi and short ribs. Unfortunately, the mahi mahi was served on a bed of zucchini and was extremely salty. My husband’s short ribs, priced at $42, were fatty and unappealing, while the side of greens (I think it was kale) that accompanied it was also inedibly salty. I chose this restaurant for our daughter's Birthday dinner last night, we arrived a little early, were seated quickly, and had amazing service! Courtney was fantastic, we took part in wine specials of the day, and enjoy the mezze platter, seafood pasta, special of the day black drum, mussels, and goat cheese ravioli. and for dessert a surprise treat of Lemon Bread, we also had hazelnut cake, soo good. My experiences here have been uneven from the time they first opened, but everyone seems to like the food, so I give it another try from time to time. No more. They shouldn't put eggs Benedict on the menu if they can't poach an egg. Mine arrived so underdone that the whites ran clear. When I sent them back, they came back to me with hard-cooked yokes in the clear slime of left on the plate from before. Really disappointed.
Our server Christina was amazing! The food was really great as well! We came for a Valentines Day date and the whole experience was good. We were greeted with a smile by the hostes and seated shortly after we arrived.
The food was below average and the prices were quite high. We ordered a mezze for starters, but it was poorly presented. We were shocked by the lack of value for the money. Overall, it felt like a waste of time.
