This restaurant had been recommended to us. Overall, it was disappointing.We had asked for seating on the porch. I would not advise that. The tables are incredibly small and the chairs equally small. Seating would be fine for a short visit to an ice cream parlour, but not really comfortable enough for a full dinner. The tables inside are bigger and the chairs look more comfortable, but I found the temperature too hot for my comfort.The restaurant is not really 'by the bay,' as it's on a part of Bay Street with no view of the water; rather, it looks out on the train trestle.So, for the food. Went here tonight with friends. We had an early reservation for 4.00pm before we went on the cruise at 6.00pm Our waitress Jill greeted us with a warm smile and introduction and told us about the specials.We all agreed that the food was delicious and huge portions we could not get over the size of the portions. My mussels were delicious which I had for my main course and Jill recommended the Dijon cream sauce which was delicious another friend had the Thai curry ones. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals and service and we will for sure be back when we want a night off from BBQ at the cottage. It was our last night and Parry Sound and we wanted to go to a finer dining place with a patio, it did not disappoint us.Bistro on the Bay met all these expectations. They do take reservations which many don't. We had a lovely table for two. The menu is not gigantic but covers all food groups and likes I'm sure. This restaurant would definitely be a go to place when we come back to that area.
We have visited quite a few restaurants in Ontario over the last three weeks. Bistro by the Bay has produced the most appealing and tasty food by far. If you want to visit please be there at the door at opening - or reserve ahead of time. Our first visit. Recommended by Alecia at Parry Sound Bikes (go there too.)! A busy spot which was a good sign. All staff were very friendly and professional. Food was wonderful. Caesar Salad, Kale Salad and Squid for starters. White Fish and Lamb Shanks, both specials for mains. No room for dessert. We'll check them out next time. Thanks for an excellent meal.
Literally we shared an appetiser, main course and dessert between us: the food was top-tastic throughout. The cheesecake in particular was just right: neither dry nor cloying. Only one thing - one of us had a sweet white wine with the pud but it wasn't cold, and these wines really must be served cold.
Amazing! Great food and drinks! Homemade ceasar dressing sooo good! Dry Cajun chicken wings were great! Fresh salads! Totally recommend this as a stop when you come to town for some great food!

It would be more beneficial if the correct address was provided. I ended up driving to the wrong address listed. The service at the restaurant was terrible.
