My experience at the restaurant was disappointing. When we arrived, we asked to see the menu but were told it was only available in French and located on the wall. The waiter then ignored us and walked away to a meeting in the back. We couldn't understand the menu or get any help in English. Frustrated, we decided to go back to La Parizza for the second night in a row where we were welcomed warmly and even remembered from the previous night. It's a shame that the language barrier prevented us from enjoying a meal at the other restaurant, as I would have liked to practice my French.
We happened by this place at lunchtime and gave it a try. It is the sandwicherie and charcouterie associated with Bistro D. We had their two vegetarian sandwiches: Le Vege and L'Estival. Both were good but the Vege was better. It uses a veg pate,...and the multigrain bread was great. The sandwich comes with a salad: either a quinoa-based or a sprout-based salad. Both were good, but perhaps the quinoa was better. Service was friendly and efficient. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table.
Loved loved loved this place. The food was so good and tasty (we had a risotto and one of the curries Busy place but our wait person was helpful with suggestions etc. It was fascinating to watch how the kitchen worked and to see the...happy diners around us. But the food was the star! Only wish we could have been in town long enough to eat there a second or third time.
We had dinner here served at the bar as the entire restaurant was full. The food is prepared right in front of you and is very delicious. We ordered steak and salmon which were both very nicely done. Since we only speak and read English we did get somewhat of a surprise on one of the dishes we ordered. Not quite what we thought it was but delicious none the less!

Great food at a reasonable price in comfortable surroundings. Good range of options on the chalkboard menu, with imaginative dishes. Food was well presented and portion sizes just right. Staff were attentive and helpful in explaining some of the dishes on the menu. A restaurant not to be missed if you are in Chicoutimi
This place brings a nice renewal to the list of restaurants in Chicoutimi. Chef and owner David has a twist for innovative menus. I love the way they prepare the fish dishes, not overcooked, really good. A minimalist and modern decor, good service. Garage door opening on nice summer days. Recommending to book ahead.
Bistro D has a sandwich restaurant associated with it that is only open for lunch. It was a good spot for lunch. Large selection of sandwich types on a variety of breads. We tried a PLT (prosciutto, lettuce and tomato) and a naan tandoori that...were both very tasty. You also get a salad choice with each sandwich.
Limited menu and no flexibility to make any kind of modification. Way overpriced for what you get. Enjoy!
