Really looked forward to an afternoon tea with friends sadly our experience left us disheartened. Upon arrival a friendly server took our orders and explained that unlimited hot beverages were included in the afternoon tea. We were baffled to be told there were no teaspoons available as they were all in the wash this was a Saturday afternoon and we were one of three tables which we found amusing as we were given table and dessert spoons to choose from. When our food arrived I was surprised to find my vegetarian options were served on the same plate as the meat, I 'm not one to cause a fuss but others might. Had an awful meal Friday 17th November 2023. A tasteless steak served with a few bits of Romaine Lettuce and chips, and a Coq Au Vin which was a dry chicken breast on top of mash potato and what looked like a pre made sauce. The food came out to us in a couple of minutes, I said to the waitress it was quick and she said the steak only takes a minute to cook....so how fresh was the Coq Au Vin sauce. When the waitress eventually came back to our table I asked if it was lettuce with my steak and she laughed and say yes they didn't have the ingredient it was supposed to be served with so the chef used lettuce!!!! Why didn't she tell us that when it was ordered. At £17.95 for a main you'd expect...
We went for a late lunch and absolutely loved it! The steak was perfectly prepared, and the caramelized roasted winter vegetables on top of the homemade hummus were unbelievably delicious! We enjoyed our meal so much that we ended up staying for dinner! Next time, we're looking forward to trying the prix fixe menu!

As for parking, the Weavers Wharf car park is the closest option, and since it was in the evening, we didn't have to pay; otherwise, it operates on a pay-and-display basis. Regarding kid-friendliness, we had two grandchildren with us, and they were well taken care of. Service: Dine-in.
