I’m not one to really write reviews, but I was very disappointed. Husband convinced to let let’s try it out seems like under new management or just remodel. As new local Ringwood residents for some time we’ve visited once before when it was Maggie’s during Covid and we had a good time. Today we came with our extended family and it was not a pleasant night. I felt like we were literally being voided. Not once came to ask if we needed anything, or check in (original server). We placed an appetizer, had to let her know we were ready to order after we were waiting for quite some time. Every time we go there something isn’t right . Today when I ordered I asked for my wings to be very well done 3 times . Then my wives $10 drink came we complained that it was weak 16 oz glass very little vodka and the rest cranberry. I thought they would have put more in but no . I’ve been going there just about every week after a ride on the bike. For a couple of drinks and lunch. Spend lots of money. So to the manager so u should have taken better care of us and for a little more vodka and my wings cooked properly I would have continued to come back. Black Rock serves outstanding food, with daily specials and a regular menu that offers great value for money. In addition to classic tavern dishes, they present some unique options that are quite intriguing. Hats off to the chef! I also want to mention Aubrey, who manages the front of the house beautifully—she's an excellent bartender and a talented mixologist. The rest of the staff is friendly and does a great job too. My only minor grievance is their limited hours and the fact that they ran out of Barr Hill gin. Other than that, Black Rock is truly a hidden gem in Ringwood.
I went last week with a friend. I had a positive experience until the time came to pay the check. They charged me a service charge when paying the check with a debit card. I felt compelled to raise the issue with the bartender. They became very defensive and unreasonable. It's against the law to charge a service charge for debit card transactions. They're not charged fees with debit card transactions. I even told her that I was paying with a debit card. That's theft and deceit. It's not about the money. I don't like feeling ripped off. Fantastic! My husband and I dropped by, feeling quite hungry, after an 8-mile hike. They offer an impressive selection of draft beers. We started with the mussels fra Diablo, which were delicious. He ordered a shrimp, mushroom, and sun-dried tomato pasta, while I chose the French onion burger. Both dishes were excellent! We’ll be hiking in the area again next Sunday and definitely plan to come back!
UPDATE 06/29: I've decided to bump my rating to 4 stars after visiting a few more times since it rebranded from Maggie's to Blackrock Tavern. The interior looks great, and the breaded wings are fantastic—a nice surprise after feeling let down by wings at other local spots.
I was pleasantly surprised by my visit. The burgers were fantastic, and the drinks were reasonably priced. While I thought the prices for non-burger items on the menu were a bit high, I definitely plan to return. They also had some delicious specials. Food rating: 4/5.
